I've finally seen this

As much as I would have liked to believe that this would be a step towards the "right" direction (Jesus was a married man w/ kids, Mary Mags fled to France, etc.), I feel it has done quite the opposite. Even wanting to believe was naive, given what this production "uncovered". What we have in the end is a bowl, a cup, some coins, a tomb with a body in it, and a bunch of assumptions and "wouldn't it be cool if"'s.

Even if the hair was proven to be in a DNA line of Middle Eastern provenance, it could have been a woman who was some trophy of a French Crusader. It could have been a person of Middle Eastern descent that traveled back with Christians from Jerusalem, or was appointed to a region to help enforce Christianity. It could be anyone. They aren't even positive it was a woman.

In the end, it did little but clutter up what was already cluttered. There were some fascinating dialogue exchange, and the philosophy(ies) that surround this conversation are very interesting. The idea of secrets, cults, Renaissance art, and encryption is exciting. The characters interviewed, if even proven to be telling the truth 10% of the time, are worth listening to, because there is a story there.

Unfortunately, I was underwhelmed and kind of felt sorry for Mr. Burgess for falling into his own trap.

NEVER MAKE ASSUMPTIONS. The only truth is fact. Find the facts, and THEN present it to us. I will be following the stories that relate to this excavation, and continue to be fascinated by this subject, but will err on the side of caution before believing anything. Call me "doubting Thomas".
