didnt have enough....

really didnt have enough close calls to make it exciting.

The CGI and the SE were fine. It dragged on 45 minutes to long and to much with the family saving and character development for everyone. Could have been good but flopped. Very unlike Roland Emmerich "end of the earth" films . So many have been huge hits and I enjoyed. This was his worst.

I was hoping you'd say "enough telegraphed lines of dialogue", but I laughed at this as well.

Yeah, Emmerich was expecting this to be his last major disaster/SFX movie so he crammed a whole lot of disaster movie clichés/tropes into it as sort of a 'last hurrah'. BUT, he's apparently got a ton more SFX movies planned(like the proposed ID4 sequels).

You really should see my fan edit. It takes out a ton of these repetitive close calls, bits of extraneous humor, the whole 'the neutrinos are mutating' explaination and other bits(been awhile since I made it so I can't remember EVERYTHING I took out lol). Makes for a more streamlined story(went from nearly 3 hours long to just over 2) and not so OTT.
