Received a standing ovation at Cannes

I haven't seen the movie yet because of the bad reviews it got here in the Netherlands. But the slightly adapted version named "The Silent Army" received a minutes long standing ovation at its premier at Cannes! So now I really want to see this movie, in the adapted version offcourse.
This kinda proofs that the bad reviews in the Netherlands are mainly based on the acting of the famous singer Marco Borsato. We dont see an actor but a singer and that doesn't do good to the movie. But apparently this really is a good film and now I can't wait to see it!

The movie that went to cannes isnt the same as the one that played in theaters in the Netherlands. It isnt 'slightly' adapted, its a completely different film. It isnt proof of revieuws only basing their verdicts on one thing, maybe go see both movies, then make a judgement.

Enjoy!

I wonder where you got that information. The director himself stated clearly this evening on DWDD that he didn't change that much when he edited it for the international version. What I understood was that he got rid of the music and deleted some scenes. But really, I don't think it is accurate to call it a "completely different film."
