So... Any Good?

I've heard so much things about this movie, but all so conflicting.
So I wonder is it watchable?

reply

No, it is not. Good intentions are no substitute for acting talent. This singer shouldn't act. War Child deserves better.

reply

I found it to be completely unwatchable, you literally start laughing at scenes that are supposed to be heartfelt. Borsato is an absolute joke and makes the movie seem like a parody on a serious flick if anything else.

The writing is bad, the director seems to have a very limited imagination and the cast is flat out terrible. It's cheesy but even more importantly completely 'unnecessary'; in the sense that it was just a big waste of money and should soon be forgotten.

reply

yes, a waste of time and effort.

...I am lost, I'm no guide, but I'm by your side...

reply

I thought that it was quite watchable (I see what you mean with conflicting opinions). Before watching I didn't expect too much of Borsato's acting talents and maybe that is exactly why I think it was not so bad as people here suggest. Furthermore, I think that the main goal of the movie (showing and explaining the situation in which child soldiers exist) did not suffer too much under his acting, which is good enough. Maybe I am just an extremely sensitive guy, but I was not even close to starting to laugh during the movie. The makers tried to reach the public with their message and, speaking for myself, succeeded.

reply

Yes, just speak Dutch please. Some people are not so fluent in English.

reply

So use a Dutch site.

reply

So shut up.
Why would they?

reply

Shut up? Or what? Unusual for a Dutchman to be so dumb. What good do you think telling someone to shut up on an internet board is? Ga je vader pijpen.

reply

As a dutchman I refuse to speak Dutch on an international website, so be warned.

When I saw the trailer, I thought it looked like a decent movie. Although when watching the trailer, the movie Blood Diamond was just flashing before my eyes.

Yesterday I saw the movie on tv. I was so dissapointed. People told me that Marco Borsato did a pretty good job on acting. I disagree, he couldn't act at all. He should leave the acting to real actors and just keep singing, which he is really good at.

The idea behind this movie was good, it was supposed to show people what is happening in Africa today. Some acting by a few African actors was good, I really disliked the performance by the Dutch actors.

Not the worst movie ever made, but I don't recommend it. If you want to see a movie about child soldiers in Africa, watch Blood Diamond. It's so much better then Wit Licht.

reply

Like many other Dutch movies it suffers from a painful lack of acting talent and a cheesy script

Marco Borsato has no business being anywhere near a film.
