Booooooooooooring!!!

Watched it tonight - extremely boring and uneventful.
I'm usually into French films but this one was a sole bore. seen better!

reply

I agree with you. I expected more about that crime... but it was developed into an uneventful stuff and... that's all, folks! And, hey, I love French cinema. If you want to watch some French movie, let's see "Erreur de la banque en votre faveur". :o)

reply

Just watch this snooz fest of a film last weekend. Terrible. I'm a French film fan, love Chabrol and Depardieu, but this film was just not good.

reply

I agree with you three. I had expected to like it but it was tedious!

reply

Tedious is giving it the benefit of the doubt. It was boooooring! This from another lover of French cinema.

The cure for boredom is curiosity. Unfortunately, there is no cure for curiosity.

reply

Anyone who doesn't think that this film is absolutely hilarious should have his pulse checked. Immediately.

Come and get one in the yarbles, if ya have any yarbles - Alex DeLarge

Sounds like you didn't change your pantyliner for quite awhile. Better luck next time.

Nothing is more beautiful than Oscar Levant.

reply

you're all *beep* stupid embarrassing peabrained infants and saying "and i like french movies!!!" after saying something so stupid is about as convincing as saying the "and i'm not racist!!!" everyone likes to tack on to all their racist comments

seriously like this isn't even about the movie, i'm just embarrassed for everyone who comes to specifically complain about how a movie was boring especially for a reason as stupid as "it was uneventful!!! the crime wasn't exciting!!!" go watch silence of the lambs or something, idiots

and saying "i usually like french movies" is irrelevant because france is a large country with many different filmmakers who all make different kinds of films and to classify all french movies beyond "French Language" is ridiculous

just delete all your posts and erase your shame from existence

reply

I agree, that is equivalent to the French saying that they usually like English movies.

reply

Movie was boring and uneventful, far from Chabrol's best, though not his worst either.

reply

I liked your comment and also the film. I rated it a 9 out of 10 stars. BTW, Roger Ebert also loved the film.

reply

I tend to be extremely patient and rarely give up on a film within the first 30 minutes - EVER - but I did with this.

I love foreign and arty films and Depardieu so please, if any of you reading this think this deserves a second chance, please persuade me.

reply

yup, a serious dud,i watch LOTS of european films, and the best I can say about this is: perhaps you need to be French to get it, because I don't..does Bellamy already exist as a well-known character in literature there?
If not, then I hope we are spared more of his adventures...

reply

Absolutely loved the movie. The lines from Auden at the close sum up the whole film, 'there is more here than meets the eye'. Quintessential Chabrol (and I'm not French).

reply

It was dull. I watched it for 45 minutes and realized that it had failed to grab me. I enjoy films that take their time reaching the destination, but this one seemed to have no real destination in mind.

reply

It was DULL! Dull as a sink full of dirty old dishwater. So sad that Claude Chabrol had to end his career with this turkey of a film. The only bright spot in the whole mess is Bellamy's very sexy wife, who ends up going on a busman's holiday with her husband.🐭
