was there a diagnosis?

Raquel faints on the stairs and then in her employers' bedroom, causing a commotion. Did they ever say what illness she suffered from? If so, I missed it.

Although it is not fully explained in the movie, Wikipedia says it was because of the chlorine fumes due to excess disinfection.

That's not a factual entry at all - Exhibit #5,000,000 as to why Wikipedia should never be used for serious research.

Yet I do agree with it in this case. My own conclusion while watching it was that the excessive exposure to disinfectants took its toll on her. That's a very plausible explanation. There could, however, be other causes that the director felt need not be explained, or perhaps scenes that might have been helpful ended up on the cutting room floor.

So your point is Wikipedia is right in this instance but it also proves that it is not reliable? Got it.

reply

No, that's not my point, but if you want to read it that way, be my guest.

Just messing with you man :) I actually agree that openly editable info sources must be used with caution, but with so much public scrutiny and contributions Wikipedia surpasses other more closely made and reliable sources in breadth and even depth in specific areas.

Alright, I have to admit, my bit of double-speak there did open me up for a bit of messing about! No problem.

I do enjoy using Wikipedia, and I think it is one of the Web's greatest features, right alongside search engines. Wiki is usually my first go-to site when I'm in need of quick info, as it's so convenient and easy to navigate.

I am currently studying at a university, and doing web-based research is a requirement for many of the assignments. My subjects include "Research" and "Information Literacy". So I've had to sit through a dozen lectures already, explaining to us why we have to steer clear of Wikipedia and Sparknotes and all that jazz while on campus - hence my instinct of checking whether a statement made in Wikipedia is referenced to a credible source or not. Damn, I'm getting all nerdy here...

Anyway, cheers, see you around again on some other thread sometime!

Nervous exhaustion or something similar? Her health improved markedly once Lucy showed her some empathy.
