Well it IS Bollywood

I see Indians here complaining it doesn't portray Indian academic society as it is but have you seen Hollywood, at least up to the nineties? They were trying to squeeze 'happiness' at the end of the movie no matter what. It had to have a happy ending no matter the cost. Oh, and several happy moments inbetween.

If you want gloom and moodiness, try Europe. We will squeeze the life out of you (excluding UK, they go through comedy usually for international movies). Though OK, sometimes they find a nice mix like with 'Amelie'. It was beautiful, original and happy.
