That's such *beep* If that were true, why are there a bunch of asian films on the list? Or do you mean that it's only about indian films? Do you really think the IMdb staff has some hidden agenda against indian films specifically? That's just stupid.

IMDB is truly an international website, and the Top 250 should reflect that. The way to handle "vote stuffing", is very simple, IMDB just needs to add another filter to their "secret recipe" for producing "weighted average" ratings. I would propose that no film can enter the Top 250, when a certain percentage of its votes (example over 50%) are coming from a single country. The addition of such a filter would minimize the "patriotic" boost factor, and when done across the board to all films regardless of country of origin, is the right thing to do.

Excellent idea. Finally a reasonable argument about this issue.

Interesting idea, but I wonder what would be the results with american movies. A lot of them would probably be thrown out of the top 250.

And they should, because not all deserve a place there. The guy is making a reasonable suggestion. Indian movies are suspiciously on the rise. A friend of mine tried to watch few highly rated ones and he was like "ugh...". Could be a cultural thing and we just don't get it (or they don't get movies), but chances are that the rating is being manipulated. They are a nation of more than a billion and could easily manipulate such rating system with patriotic motives or the studio could pay a dollar or something per vote.

Just stick to the top 1000 voters rating. It is very telling in such cases.
