Just watched this and I thought it was quite good.

I would give this 7 out of 10

Predator 1 = 9.5
Predator 2 = 8.5

Was it as good as predator 1 or 2 - NO it wasn't but I would rate this above Predators, The Predator and both the AVP movies which just didn't seem to know what they wanted and just tried to put alot of gimmicks into copying the best bits of the first 2 and made the predators seem weak and easily killed.

This had decent cinematography, good enough script, brutal and the new predator was good and not a pushover and endured alot, definitely re-watchable.

This had a coherent story, the kills were good and the atmosphere was mostly good.

Could it have been better yes definitely like
It should have been filmed in native language like apocolypto and then dubbed into English - which made look like it was set in modern times rather 1700's.
The music was 50/50 good in some bits but weak in other bits.
Could have been abit more bleak like apocolypto and having adult Comanche instead of young ones.
Cut out the predator build up from killing small animals straight to hunting worthy opponents.
Abit more traps by the frenchmen could have been added to hurt the predator and still show his strength to carry on and made the finale alot more believable.
Better consistency of the weather - like going from mist all over to clean blue skies was too much of a contrast.
Too much daylight filming instead of evening time made it look too nice and cheerful instead of dreary like it should have been.
Re-use of the original lines was just awkward and should have never been added to this.
The Naru character wanting to be a hunter could have been tweaked to her being dragged into being a hunter would have been better after seeing her fellow Comanche's dying.

Just finished watching the Comanche version and it does make it alittle better - would say it would go to 7.25 if it was in filmed in full comanche audio, but as a dub i would push it from 7 to 7.10/10 - so worth a watch in comanche first if you can.

Predator 2 is underrated but Prey is the better film in my opinion. Predator 2 is just a big, loud, bloody film. Prey had character development and suspense to go along with the action.

I suppose people want different things from action films though so fair enough if you prefer Predator 2.

Apart from Danny Glover being almost too old as the main lead everything else in predator 2 was great and almost was as good as the original even the weapons and knowing more about the predator background.

this predator was decent enough as a primal predator and apart from the original Kevin Peter Hall, this was second best as all the other predators were either big suited or looked weak and died easily.

Predator 2 was pretty much action all the way through like the orginal but this one was kinda slow in the beginning, it could have had more kills in the starting with the predator stalking and killing some random Comanches or some Frenchman while there doing there culling of the ox's - it really got better after the bear scene.

Nah, second best Predator goes to Wolf from AVP2: Requiem. Wolf was a pure badass in that movie, took a TON of damage throughout the film, was highly efficient, took down multiple aliens, and went out like a boss while taking down the Predalien.

At least Wolf didn't dismember and kill himself with his own weapons, and at least he also didn't magically get debuffed for no reason.

Predator 2 was horrible, if anything it's overrated. When the main lead sucks and is unbelievable, it pretty much tanks the whole movie. Also the stupid Rastafarian thing was cringe. Cool kills and weapons, but that doesn't redeem a film.

I agree. Predator 2 has really become overrated over the years. The acting stunk, even Glover was poor, and I never could buy that he could last in a fight against a Predator. That whole video monitor sequence was such a shameless ripoff of Aliens. I thought most of the action was just lackluster and there was hardly any tension or suspense. Prey and Predators were easily superior to it.

100%, Erting. Not to mention the ending of P2 has the infuriating Frozen Enemy trope.

Predator: 10/10
Predators: 7.5/10
Prey: 7.4/10
Predator 2: 5/10
AVP Req: 4.5/10
AVP: 3.5/10
Predators: 3/10

Other than a few things here and there, I liked Prey.

Predators (the Adrian Brody one) is better than Prey.

Never really liked Predators, the setting was good and stars were o.kish.
The so called 'super predators' were killed to easily.
The war between the different type of predators just didn't work.
Adrien Brody tried too much to be a badass and it looked terrible.
Topher Grace's character shouldn't have even been in the movie.
Laurence Fishbourne character was stupid but should have helped the group out.
The dogs were a stupid addition.

Agreed on all your points, but re-watch Predators after watching Prey, and Predators looks like a far superior film in terms of depicting the Predators as ruthless and no-nonsense.

I agree with most of this and I too would rate it third best behind Predator 2, which I'd rate more like 7.5. Artistically, it's probably better than Predator 2 but I didn't have as much fun watching it as I did that film. P2 shouldn't have really worked as a sequel in the setting it was in but it somehow did and felt like it belonged in the franchise. The nods to the original were also done well and it went one better by expanding on the lore of the Predators in an intriguing way. This one almost didn't feel like it belonged in the franchise due to the way it was presented (e.g. none of the original Predator music). That's not necessarily a complaint, only when you try doing nods to the original such as including the famous quote, when it is so artistically different, then it feels a bit shoehorned in. Still better than the rest though.

I think the same predator 2 was a decent sequel that expanded and but kept the same tone and details, yes it could had a better lead man but even then i think Danny Glover did a decent job along with the others with big shoes to ill as a sequel.

Plus Kevin peter Hall embodied the predator and none of the other come close to his version.

They're all pretty watchable. Even that abomination from Shane Black had a fun cast in it. I'd actually rank this one bottom of the heap. But as monster franchises go, Predator is a helluva lot more entertaining than most.

I disagree, i can re-watch the original & Predator 2 easily, but predators is a big chore with few hit but mostly misses that have to be skipped and The Predator is pretty muchy unwatchable - there is very tiny redeeming qualities to it, even the AVP ones have bits of good things to them.

I love the AvP movies. I hated them when they came out, but I've rewatched them many times now.

there no masterpieces but they do have some good scenes in them, so the potential was there for them to be good, just a shame so many bad choices meant they were kinda lacklustre.

i disagree, the first too are much better overall, from start to finish, whereas the setting up of this story wasn't that great and kinda boring, but gets better as the movie goes along and no fantastic music or scenes like the first 2 movies had.

Agree. Predator 2 had too many campy elements in it. Prey was as intense and suspenseful as the first movie.

You have a dubbed version in comanche with english subs going around, and it's very well dubbed, looks like it had been filmed in that language.

Not seen the dubbed version yet, just the english audio version, didn't want the old kung-fu style lips slower than voices, but i might just give it a go if it's done good.

You can notice some slight async between audio and lip movement in some moments, but it's barely noticeable. It's quite well done.
