these films need to be made accessible through OD

I hate that these kinds of films are impossible to access, especially when one is far removed from cities such as NYC and LA. There should be deals struck with cable companies and film distributors for small films. With the advent of Ondemand services, I don't see why these films (which probably won't get much exposure anyway) can't be simultaneously made available on Ondeamnd networks while they are being played in obscure theatres in selected cities across the country. A lot of great, small, independent films can reach a larger audience and still remain financially viable if they utilize the OnDemand technology i think.

This movie is on OnDemand as was Hannah Takes the Stairs when it came out. Check the IFC in Theaters section.

I couldn't agree more with your qualm. And I live in LA! But I just moved here this fall, and if I didn't go to SXSW every year, I'd prolly be SOL on indie flicks.

Things are starting to move in the right direction though. Cinetic is putting a bunch of indies like Happy Birthday Harris Malden and Yeast on iTunes. Plus IFC has that FirstTake program where they do TV, OnDemand etc., with a lot of their films (although I can't seem to figure out how to download Goliath).

And there's the Range Life Tour that just happened this fall (http://www.FightYourDentist.com), and those were all fantastic little movies (I only caught 3 of the 4 when they were in LA, but I got the other one on iTunes earlier this week). Plus SnagFilms is owned by indieWIRE, so one could only assume they'll eventually move towards showcasing newer films, as well as older indies. Plus Hulu premiered Crawford just last month, and that was one of my favorites from SXSW.

Could be an interesting year for small films on digital platforms, since all of the small arm distributors have gone bust.
