The untold stories from Waltz

I think that there should be a compendium to go along with this film. The invasion of Lebanon was the catalyst for a great number of failures and problems that still haunt the region to this day.

Things that are not covered in the film:

1. The eventual conflict between the PLO and Syria
2. The creation of Hezbollah, which equally targeted the PLO and Israel
3. The decade long civil war that rocked Lebanon as all sides rushed to fill the vacuum left when Israel withdrew.
4. The changing world view on Israel, moving from defender to blatant aggressor.
5. The demise and rise of Ariel Sharon
6. The eventual end of the war in Lebanon with Syria essentially running the entire nation.
7. The overall escalation of extremism on all sides.

This was a truly great film, probably one of the best war films that I have ever seen. This stuff couldnt have made it into the film, but the context of what was happening in the global picture as opposed to what was happening with boots on the ground is worth researching further.
