what happened with yaeli?!

why didn't ari clear up what happened with his ex-girlfriend?
all we know is that he was "fantasizing" about his death in the war so that it would "haunt yaeli for the rest of her life because she dumped him".

clearly he made it back, what then?

ari's comments in the featurette of the blu-ray only touch on how his wife (a different woman) complained that yaeli was made to look too pretty in the film and he said that she got married/divorced to someone else.
but nowhere in the film does it explain what happened after he stated his intent to get back together with her when he returned from the war, hm.
maybe we are to assume ari's "friend" boaz turned her out and she was too ashamed to reconcile.
