Realism

Unfortunately I do not own a BlueRay-Player and cannot see the Making Of of this film (if anybody has an idea where to watch it online, I would be grateful for giving me a hint)... But one question that bothers me is the realism of the whole thing. Ari Folman did not suffer from amnesia; as he points out in several interviews he started considering to make a film about the Lebanon War after a few therapy-sessions, realizing he had never spoken about these events before. Therefore the framework plot seems to be fictional. The interviews, however, are ought to rely on actual material. One thing that strikes me is that two israeli actors dubbed the charecters of Carmi Cna'an and Boaz Rein-Buskila... Why? Do Cna'an and Rein actually exist?

reply

Both are absolutely real, but refused to appear in the movie. Their text are their actual testimony, though.

Carmi, or the actor voicing him, even states in the film that he doesn't want to be recorded. Framework plot isn't fictional. One can forget the details of such unpleasant incidents.
