does this writer have any knowledge of the film industry?

1- WHY DID THREE PEOPLE THROW THEIR WATER ON SOMEONE DURING THAT REUNION? And it's not even done in humor, it's meant to be serious.

2- No one ever gives a crap about your student film so why are you mailing it everywhere?

3- People don't just easily get agents right out of film school (that guy getting a nike commercial? ppl work ten years to get one nike commercial job).

4- No one wins awards during a graduation ceremony wtf is that?

5- You went to Dartmouth? and NYU? YEAH DUH your parents are going to be sad that you end up working in porn. Know how much those tutions costs?

6- Is this movie meant to empower women? They all just come off as dumb- oh wait- that's because the writer is an idiot.

7- This girl doesn't have internet? You didn't look up the name of the production company you were interviewing for? You should have!

8- ANY Movie about making movies is stupid and proves the writer can't think outside the box they are inside.

9- All that crappy music omg it's TERRIBLE MUSIC! Hire a composer ! not iMovie beats!

10- The Montages are elementary and cliched.

11- This director has no idea what potential the power of filmmaking has; if someone gives you 2 million to make a movie, please read a book on film theory first.

So many ppl talk about the porn element of this story, but that's got nothing to do with the horrible horrible writing and direction. I know fifth graders that write better than this!

Nothing in was close to believable, I think an autistic child wrote this. That is how far removed from reality this piece of *beep* movie is. Who in their F-ed up mind gave two million dollars to fund this?

You have a lot of valid points.. but I will disagree with you about the music. This is one film where the cheesy stock film makes sense in that it is about porn movies and most of the background music would also work if used in one.

And I disagree about the writing and direction. I felt the writing was clever. And not all the women were dumb, just a couple of the porn actresses, and they were supposed to be dumb. The lead was not dumb, the owner of the company was not dumb, and "Bliss" was certainly not dumb. I guess I'm lucky not to be in the film industry because I just looked at it as a moviegoer and found a lot to like here. I turned it on by accident late at night, and was surprised to find that I watched it to the end, and enjoyed it.

I’m with you, JW. This was a bit of a gamble for me, and it paid off. I knew that I liked some of the cast. I hoped LeeLee would get naked, but it wasn’t a deal breaker. I am a student of the adult entertainment industry, so I wondered if I’d encounter narrative content that jarred me. Are there factual inaccuracies? You bet. Do I give a damn? Not at all. There was not one inaccuracy that took me out of the film, raging, “That’s preposterous! What idiot wrote this?” because it was funny and entertaining.

Do you know what's terrifying? I have friends who work in the PORN industry. I recognized NOTHING from this movie. The days of the big studios, the decent looking offices, people actually doing a table read off a script, most anyone having any sort of delusion of 'legitimate filmmaking' aspirations, all went away in the 1990s.

Porn today is done on the cheap. Most of it is shot in people's houses or established studios (like Kink's use of the Old San Francisco Armory in SF).

Porn is mostly shot on the second most expensive consumer camera from Best Buy, though there are rare occasions where people actually use PRO Video cameras but no one shoots 4K projects

Narrative Porn is about as rare as the DODO Bird.

Gonzo not only rules, but tons of it is being shot overseas, thus stripping tons of work and money away from American porn industry workers.

That office looked actually NICE.

NO ONE shoots on FILM any more! (one of the characters mentions that they have a refrigerator filled with film stock in the back).

I just wish these scripwriters would do some research. Check out actual porn sets. Visit the production companies. Ask them questions. there is real humor and stories to be told, but only when you have a clue about the industry your story is about......

There was nothing to indicate that this was a period piece (aka vintage aka 1980s) however it can be argued that this is a 'fanciful' re-imagining of what someone 'thinks' the porn industry is like, rather than anything close to reality.
