Spoiler... female masturbation

SPOILER........................

A decent actress with a decent director can portray sexual frustration without showing masturbation. But that is what we see from Brittany Snow. Did not add anything.

I have no problem with sexuality in a film. Other sexualized scenes added to the plot.

It is obvious that the point was to show that Brittany Snow was frustrated with Peter Sinclaire and she may have been thinking about Adam Scott, but there were better ways to show it.

Please elaborate.... much, much more. :) Tell me about this scene, please.

How do you know, for sure, that she was playing with herself and not pacifying a monthly cramp? Anyway my point, your soul opinion is wrapped in her playing with her puuuuty, and you allowed it to tangle your panties into a knot. Now take a few minutes and untie them, put a smile on your face and a charge into your torso...................ENJOY, a Very Happy and Merry Xmas

Oh my god! Female desire on display?

Close the doors! Bar the windows! And for goodness' sake, cover your children's eyes!

We can't let this get out! If we do, before you know it women will be owning property, driving cars and voting!

What other better ways do you have in mind? Castration?

reply

lol... that's funny how female masturbation is mentioned and suddenly you equate it with castration...

Not to mention working outside the home, voicing their opinions and deciding if and when they want to have children!

Good comment daaf-y. I can't get why some people are just THAT stupid, as the OP is. It bothers me a lot.
I think the scene was important to understand what the character was feeling, as well as the rest of the sex scenes. I've seen a lot of extra, gratuituos, unnecesary sex scenes in movies, but not in this one for sure. Besides, the sexual innuendo was to intense, they had to show it.

reply

I thought that it was hot (and strange?) how she felt possessed to go and lay in the same spot. A great addition to the movie, in my opinion. It didn't seem contrived to me at all.

Saying "spoiler" and then revealing said spoiler immediately sort of defeats the purpose, no?

reply

You just described the exact purpose, while on a board with a textbook example of how to do it. Like the gigantic space you had to scroll past to get to the message.

Methinks you saw a negative reaction to the post and wanted to get on the train without a ticket;-)

reply

Someone pleaseeee tell me what happens! In detail :D

Youthinks incorrectly. Ignoring the fact that "female masturbation" is considered by 1 person in the world a spoiler-level revelation, the OP revealed the spoiler in the subject line. The small block of text after the huge space was a simple statement of disapproval.

Applied to The Sixth Sense, the original message would have gone something like this (I was kind enough to cover up the big reveal in case you're one of the few remaining people who haven't seen it):

Subject: Spoiler...Bruce Willis is dead the whole time
Body:
SPOILER......
[big block of whitespace]
I was like, what?!

reply

WAIT! Bruce Willis was dead the WHOLE TIME!?! oh noes! :)

reply

Bruce Willis dies masturbating in this film? He's not even listed in the cast!

hahahaaaa

well, you don't spell it son, you eat it

The only reason I can think of for this scene to be included is it shows she actually wants caleb. Emma is obviously a massive people pleaser. Whatever happens she just smiles and says oh great, that's fine. This scene shows she doesn't just want caleb because he wants her. She isn't with him just because she is a people pleaser and since she isn't very nice to him she most likely spends time with him because she feels like she can just be herself without having to please him. Other than that I couldn't fathom why she, or anyone woman who wasn't legally insane would want to have anything to do with caleb.

reply

Excellent post. I really like that line of thought.

reply

I thought it was super hot, I felt the sexual tension...

reply

i thought it was stupid, and unrealistic, but that is how i felt about her character in general.

"WHO'S ON TOP & WHO'S ON BOTTOM NOW, huh?! WHO'S ON TOP & WHO'S ON BOTTOM NOW!"

It didn't add anything? Really?

How else was the viewer supposed to know that she was sexually attracted to Caleb? The scene before that, she barely says a word to him and seems pissed the whole time. I mean, I inferred that she felt something for him, but that scene reveals that she really, really wants him. Actually pretty pivotal to the plot, ya know.

Also, I hate playing the sexism card, but I bet you don't have a problem when dudes whack off in movies.
