Watching Defiance Makes Me Sad

Defiance (imdb.com/title/tt2189221) is not a bad show. The potential is there, the relationship between the male lead and his adopted alien daughter is interesting and enjoyable, and it's already been picked up for a second season (after airing only 5 episodes in season 1). But I look at the various effects (both CGI and physical FX), the extensive makeup and the large cast of characters and I think "Alphas must have had a much lower budget, why couldn't you have spent some of the money slated for Defiance to help promote Alphas?"I know the allocation of funds doesn't really work that way, but if they canceled Alphas because it wasn't making a profit, I wonder how they justified spending massively greater amounts on an unknown like Defiance.I'm currently rewatching both seasons of Alphas and even though I already know the plot lines, I'm really enjoying the writing, the actors and the characters they portray. It's just sad that the show wasn't given good closure.---On IMDb, nobody knows you're a (I said nobody knows!).
