I've watched this movie multiple times now. Still love it!
I don't understand, you seriously have to be disturbed? Correct me if I'm wrong, but how is this vision in anyw ay positive for humanity and filmmaking?
It's just a movie, and a fun splatter movie at that. It's way ott to be taken seriously. But even if it was, it's still just a movie.
There is always going to be an audience for the extreme and disturbing movies. I find this is actually an example for a fun extreme flick, in a similar vein to something like Braindead. But if you were to look at a movie like Martyrs, which is also blood soaked, that movie is actually a much more serious flick, and 100 times more disturbing then this fluff of a movie will ever be.
But the point is, many people watch this movie, Martyrs and many others. There are countless classics that have been banned in countries due to their excessive and offensive nature, like Cannibal Holocaust or Salo, and many people still watch them. It doesn't make them sick, it doesn't make them disturbed, it merely makes then movie fans. Most people can tell the difference between fantasy and reality. Just because someone enjoys watching a horror movie doesn't make them a serial killer, the same way someone playing a violent video game doesn't make them one.
As for why they are positive for humanity...well, it's escapism, fictional entertainment, it's not supposed to be positive or negative for humanity, it's just a movie we watch to take a break from life and immerse ourselves in. We do it all the time. Look how popular the movie Scarface is, though everyone watching it don't run their own drug empire. Movies are just a way for people to enjoy a fictional movie.
It's cool if it wasn't for you, but liking these movies doesn't make someone disturbed.
