What did Jeanne see on the footbridge?

I don't know if the scene was intentional or an editing error, but towards the end of the movie as Jeanne is walking in the rain she discovers something that horrifies her on the foot bridge. The camera only shows her reaction as she looks down at the water and sees something. At that moment my wife and I both thought that she discovered the body of Bleistein's grandson. (He was shown in the previous scene walking on the bridge while an ominous music score played implying that something bad was about to happen). Then in the next scene we see the grandson safe and sound in the shack and it is never revealed what Jeanne saw in the water. Does anyone have any thoughts about the significance of this scene? Was the director trying to show that Jeanne was insane? Or was just trying to manipulate the audience? I would love to hear other views on this.

I thought the same thing.

I thought she either was going to jump and decided not to, or almost fell in.

This is my months' late, but I also thought it was going to be that she saw Nathan's body.

Thinking back on this now it was probably that she was devastated that she was going need to tell the truth (or that she was devastated that she told a major lie). This is just what I think though :)
