It seems like every Thai action film and/or action comedy film has to have at least one drag queen in it, and Chocolate was no exeception;it had like half a dozen drag queens. Is this just a cultural thing? Do Thai people think drag queens are funny or something? I don't get it. It's different and I'm not complaining or anything, I was just wondering what the deal was, or if I was missing something about Thai culture.
shareThai culture is pretty open minded on Ladyboys, Drag Queens and so on - it's much much more common over there, hence they get some play in movies. They obviously ham it up a bit - but it's like cowboys in old American films, Samurai in Japanese films and so on.
share^^Mainly what he said. It is a huge part of their culture. They have more transgender than any other nation to date. It was a bit overdone in this film, though.
