Her posing after every move was kinda annoying.

The movie was ok but one thing that was really cheesy was how she would pose and yell everytime she hit a guy.

She only did it the first time she fought. Did you even watch the whole movie??? Doesn't seem like it.

reply

Yea, she posed evertime she knock a guy out. She would freeze in position and yell AYE-YA!

I know what you're talking about. But as the above poster stated, she only did that for the first major fight scene. She had been watching Bruce Lee movies prior to that and was mimicking his moves and vocalization. I thought it was really cute on my second viewing; but, on my first viewing, I had the same reaction as you.

I thought it was good the way they paid homage to a lot of different fighting styles throughout the film. She watched old moves and video games to learn her techniques so makes sense as she had copied what she had seen. If you haven't seen Bruce Lee films though you would miss that. Also there was some very Jackie Chan style comedy moves in the one with the lockers and cardboard boxes including the table smash - could see that miles away :o). The final fight scene went on for over 20 mins - I would have run out of puff in the first 5 mins myself :o) The samurai sword bit also reminded me of Kill Bill and Indian Jones with the sword and the gun scene. All these guys with samurai sword coming after her Dad and he just gets his gun out and shoots them - very funny.

As several others have said, she was mimicking the martial arts movies she had watched.

The background of the movie, itself, is that the girl is autistic and picks up on the martial arts moves from movies she watches. The "posing" after each move happened in the majority of older martial arts movies, and the sounds she made after her first fight were, also as others have said, pretty much Bruce Lee's trademark.

Put yourself in the mindset of a child watching martial arts films and trying to copy the moves, and you have "Zen."

Courage is the mastery of fear, not the absence of fear.

Put yourself in the mind (yeah I know it's a hard task) of someone who never saw martial arts movies and you have the title of that stupid thread

reply

She only did that in the first fight scene.

She wasn't just posing, she was resuming a ready position in order to fight off the next attacker
