$25 million Loss

If you click on box office, this movie apparently cost $25 million to make, but made only $13,000 in its U.S. box office grosses. What a disaster!

But a huge triumph re: making a $25 million feature look -- in terms of visuals, style, and production value -- like a cheap late-night cable movie.

My guess is they spent nearly the entire budget on Michael Douglas' salary & had nothing left to spend.

You may just be right!

Maturity. The very staple of the IMDb message boards.

I don't think that they spend the entire budget on Michael Douglas' salary but a big part of it for the Oscar-winning actor commands $5 to $10 million salary. The highest that he received was $15 million when he did Basic Instinct since he had nude scenes in it.There are more than 200 people involved in making a film. That is reflected to the numerous names in the credits at the end of it.Remember that it takes a village to make a movie.

Aside from that, you have to remember that IMDB's data on how much a movie makes is pretty much incomplete. So it is not accurate one.

Also, the movie also still earns money once it is released in DVD or if it is shown on TV.In other words, you can never say that a movie failed if it never made money during its theatrical release.

The release dates for this film show a "limited release" which was probably seen only on a few screens in a few markets. It does not show a general release. It was probably being test marketed to determine whether it should go direct to DVD. Or to Cable. Which it must have done.

So they will get money for Rentals, DVD Sales, and whatever they get from the Cable companies to show it.

Besides, tax losses are always useful things to have in that industry.

Its amazing what $25 million buys. In this case, absolutely nothing. As many people have already commented, this is one of the worst movies made.
The production quality is absolutly terrible. Even some TV movies have higher production values.
The main charactors totally lacked charisma. I was hoping the bad guys win.
I doubt they made back $25 million in DVD sales or tv sales. No one is buying this turkey. I bought it for $3 in a Blockbuster store closure. No wonder it sat on the shelf unsold for days before I made the mistake of buying it.

honestly that's a waste of potential.

All they had to do was run some vague previews flashing michael douglas, some car explosions and the sex scene and it would have made 25 mil

If you dig a little deeper, you'll find that the movie actually made over $4 million in foreign sales.
