The film you have mentioned - "Definitely maybe", was released on 14th Feb 2008 in the US. I seriously doubt if 5 months is enough time for the makers of "Bachna Ae Haseeno" to copy the idea, write the script, produce the film and release it by 15th August 2008...don't you think? :)
The shooting of Bachna began in October 2007. So the script would have been written in the first half of 2007...so unless they have spies working in Universal Pictures, this ain't possible!!!!!

haha nice!

Scripts can found/deduced. Terminator Salvation isnt coming out until Summer 09 but there's alot of info on whats gonna happen in the movie. So they could have easily ripped of Def Maybe or just gone with the premise from Def Maybe. So they ripped it off big deal!

People are always alleging this stuff. When the movie came out 20 years ago, then the remake theory seems somewhat plausible. But this case is stretching the argument to an extent that is just absurd.

the similarities seem to end at 1 guy, 3 girlfriends, for me anyways....ie. no daughter, no 10 year too late realization about his one true love--raj seems to know his heart a bit better....i could go on, but that's the gist

actually definately maybe is a ripoff of kuch kuch hota hai!

think of that, the kid, the bitter father, only instead of the dead mom, he has 3 ex girlfiriends!

Why...So..Serious? Let's put a smile on that face of yours!

Uhm, it's not like Definately Maybe and nowhere close to Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. How did you get that idea?

Bachna Ae Haseeno has nothing close with Definitely, Maybe!

And yes, "Definitely, Maybe" does have some similarities with Kuch Kuch Hota Hai....

I am not saying that Bollywood doesn't copies, they do, but Bachna Ae Haseeno is different from Definitely,Maybe. Infact, when I saw Definitely, Maybe I was shocked to see the similarities it has with Kuch kuch hota Hai. I made a discussion thread at Kuch Kuch Hota Hai board but very few people had noticed it.

Anyway, I hope most of you have seen Kuch kuch hota hai. Here is my comparison between Definitely, maybe and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai....

Definitely, Maybe" http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0832266/
&
"Kuch Kuch Hota Hai" http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0172684/

I am saying some similarties, because otherwise the central theme in both movies appears different...
Okay, so here it goes:----

In both movies, the actor has a daughter, who plays a main role in the story. In KKHH, we have Anjali, who actually plays a major role. In DM, we have Maya, who is listening to a story.

In KKHH, Rani Mukherjee has written letter for Anjali to read and understand the story. In DM, Maya listens to the story told to her by Ryan Reynolds.

In both movies, the actor actually marries his college sweetheart. (SRK-Rani, Ryan-Elizabeth Banks)

In both movies, the actor marries someone else, but in the end, loves someone else.

In KKHH, Kajol goes away from the life of SRK-Rani and disappears completely. In Definitely, Maybe "Isla Fisher" goes away from Ryan Reynolds life. Though Kajol remains in no touch at all, Isla Fisher remains in touch using letters.

In KKHH, SRK tries to propose Rani by practicing on Kajol. Kajol doesn't knows about it!
In Definitely, Maybe "Ryan Reynolds" practices on Isla Fisher, though Isla Fisher knows about it.

In both movies, the daughter wants her dad to go the girl he actually loved.

Apart from it, there are a lot of dissimilarities in these movies, considering the theme is very different.

Definitely, Maybe is a fantastic movie and it is one of the rare case (which I found) where Hollywood movie seems to have story similar with Hindi Movie....

daughter in both movies, the way they learn about previous life story of their dad, and the way proposal scene is being practiced in both the movies, these are some similarities nobody can deny!
