SRK IS TOO POPULAR

I hope this doesn't become another blockbuster. He has too much favoritism while others work 10 times harder to get to where he is at.

reply

I feel SRK deserves this success and he works hard too!! I mean when he lost his parents no-one knew him but he worked his way to the top, others rely on their parents successes (the Kapoors, etc) That's just my opinion, I'm not saying that others don't work hard, I just feel that ShahRukh is a great actor with a lot of talent, and he is favoured because of this! And I hope this film becomes a blockbuster, I'm really looking forward to it!! xx

reply

Actually Shahrukh works very hard and it's that fact combined to his talent and charisma, as well as good choice of films and roles that have deservingly have made him the superstar that he is.

Agreed 100%, even the comment about his crying scenes. :)

@ Pompula . You say that SRK has a good choice of films .. YOu are right he does. Because he can act in only one kind of cinema , that involves hamming and emotional deluge by overacting ..
He chooses same kind of films again and again , which lack original storyline and are full of dance and song, made under a big banner . Because he knows it will make him richer and audience even more gullible !

what do u call CDI and Swades then. This film, particularly the role of Suri was definately not is usual self.

Worldwide, SRK is number one. He's even bigger than Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise. The man is not only the most popular, he is a MUCH harder worker than you give him credit for. He is a damned good business man who knows that he's not going to be able to be #1 forever, but will someday be like Big B is now: doing older roles (though he'll never be as deeply respected and revered as Big B is). So he has branched out into a growing production company and FX company. And he's not ashamed of doing commercials. HE was the one who started the "revolution" of Hindi actors endorsing big product brands when other actors refused. You don't even see big named Hollywood actors doing that in the U.S. They'll only do it in places like Japan. He also pays his taxes when other Bollywood actors complain about doing so (actors there have to pay an entertainment tax and many of them fight it). Also, many times, he doesn't take pay for special appearances in movies (like the recent "Heyy Babyy"). So you're off base completely when you say that he doesn't work hard. If he didn't work as hard as he does, he'd NEVER have gotten to the point where he is today.

May b I'm a bit 2 late 4 my comment, but I simply couldn't resist myself and I came here to say that I just cannot simply disagree. That's what is the truth. And evrybody has limitations...why, u could't ask Salman Khan 2 do one Kuch Kuch Hota Hai or DDLJ or Dil to Pagal Hain...! The films wud hve sucked...With this hundred limitations only, he is the King of Bollywood with overseas popularity beyond comparison of Brad Pitt/Tom Cruise from the Hollys..! There must be some magic which is still unindentified. Even he had had no Godfather in a industry lyk dis. Therefore, it's no joke when millions of people admit without the blink of an eye, that SRK is the No.1.

reply

No chance of that happening - this one falls flat on its face. It starts of pretty well, but half through it runs out of steam.

reply

But don't you think he's been slacking off recently?

why do you think he's slacking off? Last year he just gave one of his best performances in Chak De India.

CDI, Dil se and Swades are his best. And he is getting accolades for Suri in Rab ne.

reply

well, most people seem to put that performance on par with Swades. I feel its definately better than his performance in K3G & Darr even though he was great in those movies too.

reply

hes popular for a reason, its not favoritism when people go see movies starring there favorite star, they don't watch to screw over other movies and other actors. fans watch srk movies cuz they WANT to.

Role selection is part of being an actor - anyway I watched Rab ne and Surinder Sahni has to be up there with Aamrkant Varam as one of his best roles - watch the film just for this performance. Beats all his contemporaries IMO.

Farhan was sleepwalking in Rock on, and Big B was atrocious in Last Lear. At least enough people have to see a film that when the awards are announced they mean something to the common man.

SRK is a great actor and I doubt people go to see his movies to "screw over" other actors... that seems kinds preposterous dont you think???

sorry that was HUGE typo on my part, i meant to say people DON'T watch his movies to screw over others actors. they watch cuz they want to NOT to screw over other actors. i'll fix this now.

I'm a big fan. I'll admit 'maybe' he is too popular, but the fanbase is not (as far as I'm concerned anyway), a bad thing for other actors, quite the contrary. The popularity is good for the Hindi film industry as a whole as his popularity drags many that wouldn't ordinarily consider watching a Hindi flick & opening doors to a whole new world of films.

Deservedly so, he's earned it. He is incredibly talented, and charismatic not to mention an extremely hard worker. If anyone deserves a big fan base is SRK.
