if you hate SRK so much why would you even mention his name,
this movie doesn't suck at all go watch ghajini its a remake of 2 films with not an original script but still gets high ranks and all,

ghajini doesn't even has a public msg to the people however RDBJ had a clear msg which 100s of yes i said 100s of indian men and women are facing with such daily here.
so

this movie doesn't suck its the starter who sucks.

leave your sucked mind at home while trying to talk about others

reply

The movie DOES kinda suck.
HE transformed himself from a BORING person to a VERY "bindaas"(flamboyant, smart and vivacious) person? Just like that? Are we talking about SPLIT PERSONLITY? If yes, they should mention it.
Thats just INSANE.
Does the directr REALLY think the audience is SO dumb ?
And try to make sense out of "Hum Hain Rahi Pyaar Ke, Fir Milenge Chalte Chalte".
I'd def give it a 1.5/5 or maybe a 2..
Ghajini worked bcos of Aamir, unlike SRK he DOESNT over act. I do like SRK as a person but I just have to say this "He is such AN over acter"..

reply

Hi Mr genuskbl :
First of all you should know the indian cinema and cuture then only give your useless opinion.

How is it possible that a person cannot identifies his/her life partner in two different looks. Is this possible in indian society ??

2. It starred SRK. Reason enough for me
3. It was directed by Aditya Chopra.

If you hate SRK (who btw is awesome in this film) and Aditya Chopra, why watch a movie by them?? If you did see the film then you're a pretentious hypocritical pseudo-intellectual snobbish s-o-b and if you didn't, then how can you pass off a judgment on a film you haven't seen??

Losers. This was one of the better films to have come out this year.

reply

Lol, I don't think you were watching the movie at all.
And it ain't so difficult for a smart, even slightly muscular guy to outwit a sumo wrestler. You might know that if you've studied physics.

reply

You might know that if you've studied physics.

I'm in my 2nd year in Physic's and it keeps on getting harder - it adds so much stress to your daily education

lol I know that was off topic

4. Apparently, married women nowadays can't recognize their husbands after they shave their mustaches and change their hairstyle.
Married men, rejoice.
5. Actually, not just married women. Aditya Chopra must sincerely believe everyone is visually-impaired to a certain degree, such that one is unable to recognize a male after he shaves his mustache and changes his hairstyle.

to be fair not just taani of Rab ne but lois lane of superman fame is also visually impaired so is everyone at daily planet to not recognise superman!

i mean put on a glass on your collegue and you simple wont guess he is superman?????

they made a spoof on this with rock (aka Dwayne Johnson), where in everyone knows he is superman trying to be clark kent but he keeps denying it, hilarious

same goes for this film, you are lead to believe no one recognizes people once they shave off the mustache and wear gogs or a different haristyle! u goota go with it!!!

Surinder Sahni is no Superman. He's supposed to be an Ordinary man.

I accept that sometimes one needs to suspend disbelief when watching a movie, but that ability decreases with age, IMO. I'm sorry, but for me, the entire film's concept was ludicrous. The storyline has more holes in it than a Dutch dam made of Swiss cheese. I'm no SRK basher; I absolutely loved his performance in Swades and Chak De India and am just utterly confused as to why he's reverting to his cringe worthy, cheesy, romantic act just when I thought he was getting it together.

But, if people enjoyed this film, good for them. They're entitled to their own opinions. Personally, I'd prefer watching a movie which does not make me feel like my IQ dropped a few notches after I left the cinema than when I went in. And judging by the 50% drop in its collections in the 2nd week(http://www.ibosnetwork.com/newsmanager/templates/template1.aspx?articl eid=21621&zoneid=9), I guess I'm not alone.

Chak de and Swades are the one offs. The cringe worthy, cheesy, romantic act is the main act for him.

Irma La Douce? Will that work? Check the French original and English language one out. The film is sustaining extremely well at the BO - and has seen a drop of less than 40%. So much for viewers having trouble with the premise. As for Surinder Sahni being a usual romantic persona - I think people may not have seen the film. At least read some reviews on the film you are bashing. Even the reviews who did not not like it much, had a LOT to say about Suri. And Aamir fans can wait for the superb Ghajini - a rehashing of a dumbed down ripoff.

reply

I am sorry, that was just plain MORONIC

RNBDJ is a real story ?? its about as real as a superman story, both are fiction, both are about alter ego and impressing the girl you love,

both have very similar parallels, thats is why i compared them

also i am refering to Superman 1978 not the new 2006 CR ap film

that film and SRK's Rab ne have a lot in common

super man is about a superhuman pretending to be ordinary

Rab ne is about a ordinary human pretending to be a super romantic hero

am I wrong here??

My point is simple

if famous stuff like superman comics and movies and throw this bu ll sh it in our faces since 1934, whats Yash raj done wrong ????????

you have to believe in it,

this film isn't a intelligent film like chak de this is romantic fluff

go with it!

Anyone who learns philosophy or life skills from the movies is a moron - be it films like KANK, or TZP or CDI or whatever. But that does not mean the film-makes has no intent to show reality. However in commercial cinema these film-makers have to bow to the money making principle so derail everything a bit. Now please go post your bit about philosophy on the TZP board and get torn apart by rabid dogs.

6. Actress fell in love with 3 guys.(two of them are SRK, well she didnt know till the end) and the name is Rab ne bana di jodi..

reply

i agree on the face that his wife couldnt reconize him, i mean its pretty obvious. the thing is the SRK is one of my favorite actors but this movie was released on his 43rd b-day...old much? he fits better with the more seriouse roles rather then the romantic line that fit better with someone who is younger. in my opinion zayed khan should have got the role it would have worked.

reply

I'd like to see you do that and put your physics to test.. Genius!

reply

lolz.. yeah.. the physics guy/gal should get into a fight with a sumo wrestler. I would love to watch that match!!

reply

-It's okay to manipulate and lie to your wife if you really love her!

-The movie is so damn BORING.

-Most of the music sucks.

-The age gap is creepy. She looks like she could be SRK's daughter.

-SRK is clearly going through a midlife crisis and it's awkward to watch.

reply

He is 40 in the film and she is a younger girl - both are playing age appropriate roles. That is called acting. Like Nishabd you know? Mid life crisis is playing a 20 something at 40 years of age. I thought the music fit the film well.

reply

actually i know of a person 80% like suri, he looks like that, is a total moron and his wife is 15 years younger than him

so its not creepy it happens

also anushka is 19 but she looks and acts like a 27-28 year old and SRK looks about 38 or lesser

what REALLY bothered me was the sudden makeover and the willingness to cheat his wife, good intentions or not

here almost all the people kinda did not like RNBDJ else than SRK fans, if this is the case why is movie on a rock steady run after 5 weeks ? who is watching it ? after having such a strong contender as Ghajini the movie still managed to gather 21 croroes more in 3 weeks ? why ? are people so dumb or its we who are wasting our time here on such a discussion !
material wise both movies sucked big time !
GHAJINI... an actor of Aamir Khan's stature doing such a fing is awful for me, for you guys it might be a classic or what ever if he had to showcase his body he should have adopted other ways !!! but do my comments change anything !!! answer is a BIG NO ! coz movie is an ALL TIME BLOCKBUSTER !
RNBDJ ! looks like a low budget B-Grade Movie with nothing impressive at all, including SRK,ANushka, ADITYA ! well i wasnt a fan of his before ! this movie was only made for a survival for YASH RAJ FILMS !!!! using the star power of SRK, and thats what has worked for it !
so guys stope this discussion indian audience is strange if they made movies like SINGH IS KING.... WELCOME.... DHOOM 2... KOI MIL GAYA... KKKG.... OM SHANTI OM.... biggest hits of their time !! anything is possible for them !!!

Enjoy

If you guys have such a problem with Shahrukh and Aditya Chopra, maybe you stop watching their films rather than making fun of them.

And the difference between Raj and Suri was very well done. If he wasn't SHAHRUKH but just some ordinary guy, 8 out of 10 people wouldn't have recognized. Also, Taani has been show as a wife who does not pay any importance to her husband whatsoever. Anyway, what the difference signified was more important than being able to distinguish. If looking different was all that mattered then they would have made SRK wear a mask.

As far as the Sumo wrestler goes, Suri did not BEAT him, he just fooled him. They did not show a 60kg guy pick up a 250kg guy over his head. It is not hard to trip someone.

I know it wasn't the greatest movie but it wasn't bad either. It was well done and had a different touch to it than the usual hindi flick.

I'm not a big fan of Bollywood movies per se. Having said that - I'm not here to either support nor bash this movie.

I was just curious about a simple thing. If you all bash movies such as this so much, then why bother watching them? Why don't you move over to the HOLLYWOOD side where there are some decent movies coming out on a regular basis. This is not to say all Hollywood movies are just GREAT! (Case in point: The Spirit) There's many that suck but there's a handful that are really good.

My problem with Bollywood movies is that they just are re-hashes of American movies. (Case in point: Ghajini) There's so much over-saturation of bad movies, that I'm just forced to turn away. Honestly, I can't remember a good BOLLYWOOD movie that was original. Sarkar was great - but a re-hash of The Godfather. And you know what? I bow to the Director for having the balls to be upfront about it and saying, "Hey, this is my interpretation of it!" Followed closely by, "Now give me ridiculous amounts of money for my artsy and creative interpretation, bitches!" (Just kidding!)

All in all, what I'm trying to get at is that IN MY OPINION, the saturation of BAD movies in Bollywood is FAR GREATER than the saturation of BAD movies in Hollywood. Now if you guys have all these consistent problems with Bollywood movies and spend time bashing them, then just go watch some Hollywood ones! Correct me if I'm wrong, but many if not most Bollywood movies are just re-hashes of Hollywood movies. So why not just watch the original version from Hollywood which has far superior acting?

Now if you're a die-hard Bollywood fan, then more power to you! I've got nothing against you, hehe. Just trying to get all those bashing people off your backs so you can go back to watching the Bollywood movies. Anyway, if you hate Bollywood movies, stop bashing them - just come over to the Hollywood side! (like me!) And if you enjoy Bollywood movies, then have fun and more power to ya!

Many of you will wonder why I'm even posting here. And to allay those concerns, I'm fulfilling the role of a dutiful husband, haha. The wife can't get enough of Bollywood, unfortunately.

Hahaha, I agree Atool. Great point that you make. Though I have a very strict way of dealing with insubordinate children. And my children and I are great friends. I'm supposedly cool enough where their friends want to come over and involve me in their musings.

With respect to the Bollywood movies, I gave up a long time ago. I used to hope that they'd turn around, and I thought they did when Sarkar came out. Then I saw titles of other movies that my wife rented and saw such as, "Heyy Babyy!" And to that, I'm like WTH!?!? If you're going to say Hey Baby, why add all the extra "y's?"

But I do see the appeal to draw audiences over family connections/matters. I feel much of that is too idealistic. But then again, to each his own. In the Hollywood movies, you don't exactly see the pinnacle of family. It shows the worst of the worst parents many times. But every now and then, you'll see a wonderful movie such as "Pursuit of Happyness" where you see Will Smith endure the troubles of fatherhood and be as best of a father as he can to his son. This theme is much more prevalent in the Bollywood movies, but you also see much of the flipside too because of the "Evil-Non-Consenting Parent."

Either way, thanks for the enlightenment! :)

You should have seen the old movies... They DO not suck, they ARE original (excuse caps, I don't have italics lol), they have good performances, and I rarely watch recent BW movies... This is as early as the 1990s or even early 2000s. Many people may like some of the recent movies b/c it shows a glimmer of hope after the BW westernization (app. 2005 or earlier?)... I always do wonder how it became westernized so much... Like bollywood's own "mid-life crisis" sort of behavior, trying to be "cool" again. Do they even realize WHY people watch bollywood movies?

Back to the point, there are many classics which may definitely please you.
