Hardest Working Laugh Track In History!!!

I watched this *beep* again tonight because Farmer Wants A Wife was a repeat of last week's episode. I know this is like flogging a dead horse but DAMN the acting on this show is so poor.

Kelly Perine is sickening! In every show I've ever seen him in (One On One, The Parenthood, The Hugleys, Family Matters) he's plays the same stupid role. He has no range or we don't see it because he continues to take these dumbass roles.

Carrie Genzel (the mother) I can't believe this woman has an extensive resume because frankly she can't act...it may be unfair to judge her after only seeing her on this (I was a kid when I watched Ski School and don't remember her at all) but then again, come on if you have that much experience acting since 1991 there's no way you should be such a poor actress at this stage. Even if the role sucks people should automatically be able to see a great or in the least a good actress in a bad role (think Lisa Kudrow in The Comeback, the show was a flop but Lisa is an excellent actress)...but in this crappy show all I see is a bad acress.

Marie Michel (the daughter) I would take a chance on her because she is a relatively new face and without a wealth of experience but if she's not careful this crappy role could be the death of her career. Even so, I still think her acting leaves a lot to be desired I mean look at April Bowlby (Kandi on Two and a Half Men) she doesn't have that much experience either but she rocks the hell out of that pretty/hot but dumb chick role. To be fair though I'd give Marie an opportunity to redeem herself but right now she sucks in this show. I hope she has a great agent or rather a new agent (cuz the one who got her this gig needs to be fired) and that he/she is doing some major damage control to save this poor girl. (She's pretty though and she reminds me of Shanti Lowry who is just so awesome!)

Jesse Reid (the son) Talk about trying too hard. He's awful...not much experience and I don't predict he will be getting any other experience any time soon -- well at least not anything worth a damn. So it's clear he's the "Carlton" -- a carbon copy of Fresh Prince...but the thing is Alphonso Ribeiro could act and he was funny. Even Jaleel White as Steve Urkel is a good example...after a while, like when "Steve" got older the whole nerd boy extraordinaire "did I do that" thing became old Jaleel himself with his antics was what kept people laughing. This guy Jesse just isn't funny - at all.

Emily Kuroda (Su Ho - Housekeeper) Trying way too hard. She's not believable and just not funny and it is in large part to the writers and the sorry excuse for a script. Can't say much else on this...like the rest of the characters this one also sucks and this lady's acting talent is either hidden by the bad character or just doesn't exist.

And last but not least Flavor Flav...I never thought I'd say this but MTV please give this man a contract for Flavor of Love for the next rest of his life, I mean that show really sucks (it's the most ghetto, debauched reality show on TV -- closely followed by the Tila Tequila bi-sexual debacle) but still anything that keeps Flav from doing that thing he refers to as acting. The only way he could get any worse is if he were actually reading from the script or from cue cards. I mean it's literally like he's just standing there repeating what he memorized..."Okay I'm supposed to smile broadly like an ass here...and here I'm supposed to look confused...and then here I'm supposed to say "yeah boiiiiiiiiii" now let me put it all together!" It's damned awful...I can't believe he's actually getting paid for this *beep* His agent needs to be inducted in to some hall of fame. I mean to get a no talent has been a TV show and a cheque has got to be recognized and rewarded as greatness.

The laugh track used on this show I'm sure is from a laugh machine and not from an actual audience and it's clearly working overtime! I watched another episode and still found nothing to laugh at. I limited vocab to speak in layman's terms and 'sucks' is the only word that really fits but those of you laughing seriously need to expand your vocab and your mind thus expanding your range of interest if you think this is funny you probably piss yourself at those Caveman commercials (which started out funny then lost the magic but are still waaaay funnier than this show...although there was a grave error made in making that a sitcom and even then it's still better than this crap).

*Sigh* I bet this is all a part of some literacy campaign...promote reading by having terrible tv shows.

I have to agree that this show is horrible, I don't know why I keep watching it. I guess I keep thinking it's going to get better, but I watched today's episode still I didn't laugh not once. The acting is terrible and boy and girl that play the kids is terrible they remind of Hillary and Carlton from the Fresh Prince of bel Air. Flavor Flav he just can't act period, it might have been better with someone like rapper Piles doing the show or hell Ray J could have played that role. Flavor Flav is to old and the theme song for the show sucks big time it sound like a nursery rhyme. I do have to say I thought they show would be funny if Kelly Prine was on the show, but it still didn't do no good. I like Kelly Prine in his other shows like Between Brothers, One on One, The parenthood, and etc., but this show has got to go. They could put another re-run show like In The House with LL Cool J in it's place.

I've got one major problem with what you've said. And that is "the acting on this show is so poor." I think that's one hell of an understatement. The acting on a Tim Allen movie is poor. This is a freakin' atrocity!

LOL. I stand corrected - I though I was the only one who thought Tim Allen and his movies sucked...good to know I'm not alone.

All of you people are idiots too. I can't believe ANYONE would ever try to take this show at face value. Obviously it is stupid, that's besides the point. On the pure basis that this show is making fun of itself is worth watching, not to mention the poignant critique of race and class in America. No other "Primetime" sitcom is even daring what this one dares week after week. Pure genius, I think so...

reply

The whole "Race/Class"thing has been done and done again by a countless number of TV shows, Comedians, and Movies. I think that if something is going to be "Genius", it should at least be original. You know, bring something new to the table that leaves people wanting more. 'Under One Roof' doesn't really fill that criteria. Of course, something that is unoriginal can still be good. But there are far more problems with this show than it's originality.

Also, I'd like to say that a show that makes fun of how bad it is like what 'Under One Roof' does is, in my opinion, a waste of a time slot that could be filled with something worth while. All that the writers are doing by making fun of their own show is admitting that they've done a bad job and that they don't want to go through any effort to improve it. Instead, they'd rather point and laugh at their own work in a lame attempt to save some face. Basically, what they're saying is "Yeah, it sucks. But that was what we were aiming for!" I don't buy that for a second.

You must not watch a lot of TV. We forgive you...

I just wathed one episode of this show (the episode where some parole officer holds the family hostage) it has the most one dimensional characters i've ever seen, and NONE of them are sympathetic a bit.
we have...

the Dad, a well made Black man who "acts white" i guess, he also acts like a total wuss and tries to run away when some guy inexplicably takes over his house.

The Wife, who is a gold digging trophy wife who shockingly stayed togather with her husband long enough to have kids (i think? But who really cares) dispite her openly gawking at other men.

The Daughter, who is a total ripoff of Hilary Banks only she sucks

The Son, who is a hybrid of Steve Urkal and Carlton Banks, only he sucks

Then Flav, possibly the only reason this show made it past one episode, who tries to be a 50 year old, version of Will Smith. One problem, he can't act. And the way he always wears that Cali Cali bling makes me feel like this is a GD cartoon show.

Oh, and the Housekeeper, spews out one liners, exits the stage. Oh, btw, if i were asian, i'd really be red with embarassment/anger while watching this show. She's quite possibly the most racist character on the show.

A good sitcom has characters we can relate to, the characters on this show are ridiculous and dull, i don't care about them, they're clowns, here to try to make us laugh; too bad they ARN'T FUNNY.

Fresh Prince this show ain't.

in response to the topic's statment, yeah, i've never seen such a spamming of the laugh track button in my life. Damn, what's happening to TV? I almost wonder if it's even worth buying an HD converter.
