Why no new Miner was sent...

Why couldn't they send a new worker after 3 years , they would anyways have to send the Eliza team right ?

reply

No, I think the team was sent to handle the larger job of repairing the wrecked rig and removing the dead clone (so that the new clone wouldn't know he's a clone). It seems like the clones were there for a three year maintenance schedule, after which they started to degrade and thought they were shipping themselves home. Then Gerdy would wake up a new worker.

Yeah, I believe you are exactly right about all of that... I don't see how so many people can get it wrong.

To be more specific, the Sams died of radiation poisoning. Between that and the long periods of solitude, it's not feasible to send a new person up every three years. They could probably afford to rotate men every six months, but they were too cheap to do it.

I was wondering if every 3 years "they" create an accident to destroy the clone, at which time the rescue mission arrives. And hopefully they clean up the evidence before the next clone find it.

Remember that they also have to do something about Gerty.

Gerty's malfunction caused the whole problem, so they would definitely install an update, repair Gerty, replace Gerty, or do some kind of alteration after investigating the incident and trying to find the root cause for everything that happened.

Of course they wouldn't send a team every three years, it's an automated process, when Gerty doesn't mess up - Gerty wakes up a clone, trains the clone, the clone does his job, goes to be incinerated, after which, Gerty wakes up another clone.

Something went wrong with this process, so they're there to clean up and fix the problem and then let it go on normally again. Of course this time, a whistleblower got out, but since when has that ever stopped any corporation for doing inhuman things..
