Handicap spaces are for people who have trouble getting from point A to point B on foot, right? She was walking around like any normal person does. Mentally, she was fine. Had all her faculties. You don't see a problem with that?

Yeah, I have a pain in my arm. Gimme a card to legally smoke weed, and and a handicap placard to park in the handicap spaces.

reply

I agree with you about the purpose of handicapped spaces and I also feel that a lot of people probably use them without really being entitled to, and this woman may have been one of them.

Having said that, I have 2 grandparents with handicap placards who APPEAR not to need them, but do.

mentally is not the case. how about myotonic dystrophy. where it effects your muscles. My father and I have it. If we trip on the sidewalk, there is a good chance we will fall to the ground and not just stumble. by the look of us we seem fine. you can't judge.

You don't have to be immobile to be considered handicap. My best friend has lupus which makes it very difficult for her to walk. Just because someone is walking around doesn't mean they aren't handicap. She can't even drive anymore, her husband has to drive. When he's not with her he parks in a normal spot but when she's with him he parks in the handicap.

Who Cares.

One who has a handicap is considered handicappED.

You don't say someone "is handicap", unless you are mentally handicapped.

See the difference?

reply

are you mentally handicapped?

god! talk about nitpicking!

I had a coworker who could wall fine, but couldn't walk long distances since she has a blood disorder. Tags are not just because of physical handicap.

Both of my parents have COPD and my mother has back and leg problems. They are fine walking into the grocery store, but by the time they have finished their shopping they are wore out and have trouble breathing so the walk back to the car is tough.
