Are Sharpe's worth it?

I haven't seen any of the Sharpe's series but Sean Bean is probably my favourite actor. So I'm just wondering if this series is worth watching. I quite like war films provided theres some actual substance to them.

Then you'll probably really enjoy the series. The first four films are the best, and then they get uneven. But I can usually find something to like in each of them.

Try your library first. You might be able to rent or borrow. Then you'll know if you want to invest in DVDs. If you're in the US, costco has sets fairly cheap.

Dont know if the OP is from the uk, but i saw the box set of the original tv movies (without the 2 newer longer ones) for £15 yesterday in hanworth, dont know if its the same everywhere, it also had a special "sharpe the legend" dvd in with it. I have them all any way so did not need to buy, buts thats very cheap for some good action filled drama

Heck yeah, they're worth it. The series features fine writing, excellent acting, tons of action, adventure and romance, and they are well done. I agree that the first 4 are the best (Rifles, Eagle, Company and Enemy) but Honour, Regiment, Revenge and Waterloo are also great. The rest are a bit of a mix. Some have better stories, while others have weaker stories but fine performances. Even the lesser ones have something to offer.

they are good. the history channel did a couple of these as history w/ pannel guest after the show. They were really good if you can find those.
