I didn't understand the ending
Was the time stopping and him climing up to the sky indicating that he died and is going to heaven?

shareSeems pretty obvious.
It was a pretty good death scene but then the music started. Well, the music is good but the lyrics kinda go from poetic to something a 10 year old would write, which is a recurring problem throughout the movie in both the French original and the English translation.
I guess it's unavoidable in the last song since obviously the lyricist isn't bilingual and his English is as basic as his accent but what about the French songs then?

Yeah, I'm with you kensterz on the ending. I didn't understand the ending eirther. But it got me thinking that he must had died and was going to Heaven. It made me sad that he was leaving her, but at least he finally got the kiss that he always wanted! :)
shareAgain... last scene is definitely Jack's departing... but there is much more... there is so much sadness. Imagine sad scenario... How would you explain to a little child, that his/her father past away. I mean... I can't imagine the pain, but that would be a nice way to say to a child... (I.m tearing up right now).

PASSED away. Sorry, but things like these make me want to burn the internet to the ground.
shareSorry You are absolutely right. I do know how to spell "passed". I was drunk , and was working on my old *beep* keyboard, and few buttons where either getting stuck, or not work at all.
Secondly... F#ck you.
I'm a foreigner who had to learn the language, not just grew up with it it.
Thirdly...
Sorry, and you are right. Even to me, most annoying thing is bad spelling. It's an embarrassement (not sure of that spelling)for people who grew up with English language, that I know the difference between "your", and "you're".
So... what I'm saying is, I do like when someone points out a mistake, That's how you learn, but if there is an argument, and one side runs out of those, and begins attack on spelling, etc. you know you won that argument...
Besides, I'm drunk right now, and have no clue why I'm typing this. he he he

Yeah I burst into tears and my young daughter thought it was great she didn't realize. I had to hide under the blanket "I'm...just...thinking...about it *snif*"
shareDid you eventually explained what she saw? Tough job being a parent.

The way I see it Jack died. But not just from his kiss...but for the love and loss of Madeline as well...He accepted that he could not live through love and the loss he suffered and thats why he tosses the key and kisses Acacia. He is finally his own man...he has made his choice.
The entire movie is just stunning and the imagery and music is just perfect. I understand the comment that the writing is childish at times, but you have to remember they are 14...and this entire movie is a balance between childhood and growing up...innocence and loss. I have watched it twice in the past 24 hrs and I just cant wait to suggest the film to friends.
The final sequence is perfection...The moment when I realized he was climbing up to heaven..that he was dying...my cuckoo clock was aching!!
Yes, he died, he was going to die anyway, since loving her would kill him, sadly. Fantastic ending.
