I agree, I'm pretty sure I heard 'Rock Around The Clock' on one of the radio stations and that wasn't out released 1955. But they used the songs to give the game the atmosphere of the fifties, so I doubt the timeline difference bothered the makers of Mafia II.

I used to nitpick about there not being any Side Missions but then I downloaded Jimmy's Vendetta and that made up for all of it. Only thing I wish there could be in the game is some street racing, first Mafia had it so I don't see why Mafia 2 couldn't have it either.

I'd also appreciate it if it had some cheats in it. Only cheat I would've been happy with would be unlimited ammo because when your playing Jimmy's Vendetta your constently having to go back to Harry's to buy more ammo. And unlimited health would be great too, it gets really fun running around with a Tommy Gun shooting at cars blowing em up and seeing cars close together and throwing a Grenade at them and causing more and more chaos and when the cops or other gangs finally kill you then the fun stops.

But for what Mafia 2 is, it's still pretty damn good and I do rate it with 9/10, screw IGN (ignorant gaming nerds) for giving it a 7/10

I think it's because Mafia 2 is much darker and more serious than the first game so mobsters street racing in a game like this wouldn't work in my opinion.

I agree that the anachronisms are a little annoying, but I love the music too much to really complain. And besides, if the dates at the beginning of each chapter had said that they were years after the previous one, the story still would have made sense (with a few exceptions).

Anyway, my nitpick is about the lack of a functioning public transportation system.
There are taxis in the game, and Vito even rides in one during the second chapter, but players are blocked from activating any themselves.
It doesn't hinder the game as is at all, and it wouldn't make a huge difference if reinstated, but it just seems such a waste to eliminate something like that if it was already implemented.

In some parts of the game, the checkpoint system is really unfair, especially at the final battle towards the end, the checkpoint system was so unforgiving in the observatory.

I agree on the music too. When you first meet Steve and Derek in 1945, Steve is looking at a Playboy magazine. Playboy wasn't started until 1953.

I Had a few nitpicks:

1. I was annoyed that there was very little you could do with telephones, yet they were everywhere.

2. I thought the driving got a little repetitive sometimes. I wished you could just set a way-point and instantly travel there from a travel point. (Like in Red Dead Redemption)

3. Lack of a manual save option.

4. I would've liked a bit more interaction with objects. E.g. Instead of Vito turning on the faucet, I would've liked to see him actually wash his hands. When there were seats, I wish there was an option to sit on them.

What I minded was the illusion of having to make choices when there wasn't any difference. Take the mission when you have to race and rescue Gallante from Henry and his crew. You get there and Henry arrives, so you can either get caught or use the bed sheets and escape. The result is the same, Gallante escapes, and the only difference is in the cutscenes. Why put it there if it serves no purpose? That's I think the big question with Mafia 2.

Hardly a nitpick, it's an anachronism and virtually all movies/ games etc. set in the past have them. What you've got to remember is that Mafia 2 is set in a different world to us and it may not have come out in the real world until the mid 50's but in the Mafia games world is a different matter.
