I loved this movie.

I don't see why so many people dislike this film. I was personally very moved by it. The film really drew me into its world and made me view life and nature in a different way. It's so bleak and dreamlike. I've never seen another film like it. It's very slow, but it gives you a lot to think about.

I've never read Wuthering Heights, but I don't think my opinion would be different if I had. I've always disagreed with people who think that film adaptations should aspire to be just like the novel. I don't know how the themes of the film relate to the themes of the book, but regardless, the film stands very well on its own.

It's not for everyone that's for sure, but, I liked it because it was so bleak. Their pure desire for each other and then how it turns to jealousy that destroys so many thing's, I mean, it's the story that people seem to dislike more than anything. Film adaptations of books are always tricky but in terms of a book that has been adapted so many times, it's even harder. It's a really different and bold way to do it.

I really loved how Heathcliff was represented by nature and animal's. and how Cathy would sometimes be like that with him. Then with Linton, she was almost another person. That idea of fighting your own nature and desire really struck me. It's raw, but really beautiful and digs deep into the gut of the story and brings it to a very now place.

It's relieving to finally read a review where the reviewer has depth upon seeing this film! There were a lot of symbolisms in it, and most people didn't seem to get it. Such as the way the animals were treated was a reflection of Heathcliff - his emotions and spirit. If a person went into the film expecting a romantic, happy, romantic/comedy ending, they would have been very disappointed. Thank you! Also, for the reason that you stated, it is probably why most people that I've read didn't like it. It brings out things we don't want to look at in ourselves and also may trigger past, unpleasant experiences some people may have had. Again, thank you!

I loved the first half and disliked the second half, especially Scodelaria as Cathy in comparison to the young actress Shannon Beer from the first half. That's my objection. Had Arnold continued the film in the same vein, as I see it, to the first half I would have loved the film. I also thought that James Howson as the adult Heathcliff was not a patch on Solomon Glave who played the young boy but he wasn't as poor as Scodelaria.

If you like this movie, I also recommend to check out Andrei Tarkovsky, because this version of ''Wuthering Heights'' really seems partially inspired by his films.

I think it captured the mood of the book very well.

But after awhile the apocalyptic atmosphere was hard to handle. Another quibble was turning the Earnshaws into some kind of backwoods, inbred, hillbilly family. I kept expecting one of them to pull out a banjo ala "Deliverance".

The two young actors who played Cathy and Heathcliff were brilliant. They were a hard act to follow for the two older actors who seemed dull by comparison.

I too loved this film. It's the first adaption I've seen and I haven't read the book, so I don't have much to compare with like others do I suppose. I loved the atmosphere and the story in general was very touching. The movie was slow, but it just added to and strengthened the atmosphere. Really happy with it. Will see how it holds up to the other adaptions!
