New remake? Focus on "Ghosts"....

I am placing this here because it was the most recent remake of this story. I have read Ebert's (or was that Siskel?) review of this and I disagree that the major attraction between Catherine and Heathcliff was "sexual" and that Emily Bronte was just a frustrated, romantic woman.

Having just read the book, it is obvious to me, at least, that they had a spiritual, almost "soulmate" connection.

She understood him, yet still loved him better than anyone else on the earth.

He took revenge on those who mistreated him, but I believe the true reason was the pain in his heart caused first by Catherine's betrayal, and then by her relentless haunting. Of course, he ASKED her to haunt him, so, there you go.

As far as Heathcliff being black, it's a possibility. More likely he was Indian or Gypsy of some sort.

I think Daniel Day Lewis, if physically capable, would be EXCELLENT as Heathcliff, and I think the "ghost"/"spiritual" aspect of this story is perfect for today's times.

Would love to see another remake, and would see it at least twice, maybe more, in theaters.
