A warning to all girls who are in love with Heathcliff

Hi. I know that some young girls have a tendency to find Heathcliff to be a very romantic character, and that's understandable. He's a tortured soul who has an abusive past. Many of you will find his passionate nature irresistible, and, well, hot. Yeah, he's hot, and very physically attractive.
BUT. Yes, there is a BUT. A person who has gone through all of the tortures that he has gone through is going to have some kind of anger built up in him. And anyone who is cruel to animals in his youth is very likely to do the same thing to people when he gets older.
I'm not dissing people who have had past abuse, but I want to warn any girl out there about the possible tendency to find that situation romantic. You might want to draw him out to "cure" him. I did, several years ago, and it turned out that my guy was a very cruel bad guy. I got away, and I was lucky.
You may not be so lucky. BE CAREFUL!!!!!!!

Nice post. You're right, some people are too quick to fall in love with that character without realizing how serious his mental issues are.

I'm glad you came out of your situation in tact.

What a RIDICULOUS comment. Who caused Heathcliff's "mental issues?" Did you even read this book? Cathy tortured Heathcliff mercilessly and basically made him what he became. I think women should take a bit more responsibility for their actions, and should stop blaming men for everything.

I think if there is one thing this version succeeded in doing, is that it de-romanticized the Heathcliff character. The guy had issues ... serious ones.🐭

I love this. I find it funny that people always talk about Heathcliff's cruelty. But nobody ever mentions the cold, calculated behavior of Cathy. Did you read the book? I did...and Cathy was NOT a nice person; she was vain, and manipulative and played Heathcliff like a violin. She toyed with his emotions so horribly that he ran away, and spent his life obsessed with her, and wanting revenge. He didn't want revenge because he was a bad guy;" he wanted it because she wronged him in terrible ways. She knew that she was the ONLY thing Heathcliff had in the world, after his father/protector died. She chose a marriage with some anemic, boring drip, just because he was wealthy and could give her a fancy life. She actually WANTED Heathcliff to live a life of complete solitude, pining over her while she got everything she wanted. Yeah, Cathy was more horrible than Heathcliff, and THIS should be a "warning" to guys; if you love a girl and she chooses a rich man over you, run for your life. Do not waste your life pining over some dumb female that doesn't deserve you. And to any females that are in the position that Cathy was in; consider yourself LUCKY to be loved or cared for as much as Heathcliff loved Cathy; that kind of love is very rare. Just my two cents on this "men are evil and women are innocent victims" thread..what a joke.
