i thought exactly the same. it actually made me very miffed because he seemed to be on the point of snickering at key moments in the synagogue sequence. he has not been in another film. i'm guessing that the actor who was originally hired for the role, fell through- and this boy was convenient and the director thought 'how bad could he be?' Unfortunately he proved that he could be very bad.
