no women?

I thought the film was terrific and Hicks is brilliant but I couldn't help wonder if he ever had a girlfriend. Or any kind of relationship other than with his guy friends. Maybe they were gay but they just didn't seem gay. Just curious.

In this film, it was stated that he had relationships and girlfriends but because he was on the road so much, and he was more dedicated to comedy.

It's odd that they didn't find one female to interview (other than family). It would have given an interesting perspective on his life.

reply

I agree.

reply

The filmmakers have said that of the two serious girlfriends he had during those years, one is no longer living, and the other wasn't comfortable being interviewed.

Read the book "Bill Hicks Agent Of Evolution" it was written by Bills longtime friend Kevin Booth (now a good documentary filmmaker). It provides some insight into some of Bills relationships and personal life that aren't found anywhere else. Definately a good read

So because one was dead and the other was uncomfortable giving an interview it wasn't possible to include some of those events in his life in the documentary in some workaround way? Whatever.

That's odd? Why do you say that? Are you saying becuase they failed to interview one of his "girlfriends" they didn't present an interesting perspective?

And your other post about how he must be gay because women weren't the end all be all for Bill. Wow. Really?

I'm happily married now (14 years) but didn't have a serious relationship with a woman until I was almost 30 years old. I had some flings that lasted a couple/few months but nothing I would consider to be a substantial part of my life. There are a lot of men who feel the way I do(did), especially young men who don't care to be tied down or take responsibility for someone else's emotional well being.

Some of you women need to get over yourselves.

Oh, the usual. I bowl. Drive around. The occasional acid flashback.

I agree 100% TheDewdabides, Im only 24 and while ive had a few flings and one night stands ive only had one serious girlfriend. A lot of my friends are getting married etc etc and i am enjoying my freedom of being single. Its nice to be able to do what I want when I want.

Nice screenname by the way, I am a fellow Dudeist :)

Enjoy your freedom, a majority of those friends will be getting divorced within 5-10 years. Take it from me...there will be plenty of time to tie yourself down, survey your goober domain and worry about your lawn.

Just saw the film and was thinking the same thing. show it from the women's point of view.. Also less still photography more videos of BILL :))

reply

Well then you're an idiot. Why the hell would a documentary about Bill Hicks be from a "Woman's perspective"? It was a man's life told from the point of view of people who knew him, not a venture in objective societal analysis.
