Cancellation before it even had the chance to shine

It's a tragedy how networks handle those things. After only FIVE episodes ABC decided to cancel the series and air the remaining episodes back to back. The thing is that in these last episodes the series took off. It started to get pretty good...

I think the people making decisions today are complete morons! Come on, if they treated "the Simpsons" or "Married with children" that way, they'd be canceled also after some episodes. People don't look in the TV guide and say "Hey, that sounds like fun. I'll watch that!". They come to watch it "by accident" and start to like it. This takes time! Time the networks don't want to give to new series. Instant hit or death, that's what they think. MORONS!!!

Yeah, the show is just getting good! Atleast they are airing the remaining episodes- they didn't even give Sophie that chance. I didn't care for it much, but I'd still like to have known what happens!

I agree with you. I just saw this show on tonight, but I liked it. Cute guys, funny situations its just too bad that it was up against Heroes because as a summer show I'd definately have been watching it.

Roommates averaged ONLY 520,000 viewers per episode. Shows like the Simpsons and Married with Children never had numbers less than a million, so it is a joke to try to compare shows that actually make a profit to a business to a show that is losing a business excessive amounts of dollars to keep on the air. They would be morons to keep it on, unfortunately. But at least it is burning off the rest of the episodes so fans can have some closure. That is much more than any network would go for any show with less than a million viewers.

but you also have to keep in mind that cable shows & network tv shows don't pull in the same # since everyone doesn't have cable (i know I don't) you must also factor it in that not everyone watches television the same way either. Some may catch their favorites shows online, while others may download it on itunes, etc. So while 520,000 may not seem like an impressive # by yesteryears standards it still should have been given a chance to gain it's on footing & grab an audience.

I think the show was really good I enjoyed it but they just put it on at a bad time for me they should've waited until the summer too bad it didnt get a chance to shine it definitely had potential

Agreed, though I'm not surprised it was cancelled. Despite the 9:00 PM showing, a few of the episodes were, IMO, a little racy for a channel called ABC family. Wish they would have aired this series on standard ABC, or better yet had gone to CBS where they still seem capable of making a watchable sitcom. Note I said watchable, not ground breaking for those who want to slam me for watching crappy TV.

Yeah, as much as I enjoyed the show, the ratings were absolutely pitiful and you can't blame the network for cancelling it. Some shows just don't work out, and you can't blame anyone but the viewing public for not watching it.
