Why do they make being Christian seem like such an oddity?

I mean, let's get real - being a Christian is not some big taboo thing in America. In fact, the opposite is true. If you're not a Christian then you're generally looked down upon. But on this show, they make it seem like some huge strange thing if one of the characters say they're Christian. They act like it's super weird and most of the characters act like they've never been to church before. Granted, I live in the Bible Belt. Are there really places like this in America? Where there are more atheists than Christians?

That's true. There's a huge Christian bias in the U.S. even outside of the BB. As much as the U.S. isn't legally supposed to promote any one religion above the others, it happens illegally all the time. It's on our money (it wasn't always and having it is a violation), in my Pledge of Allegiance (it wasn't always and having it is a violation), Christians fight relentlessly to put it in our public schools, and even in our courts yet they don't want other religious symbols to have be able to stand side-by-side their crosses.

Granted, not all Christians are like that. Nor are all the Christians like the ones primarily depicted in SL. There are plenty of Christians who aren't adamant about sex after marriage, for instance, and Grace nor her mom are depicted as being prejudice to Griffin or the boy who went to their church that eventually became his boyfriend. I was glad for that, but Grace often did become very annoying with her cliched preaching and then they just made a mockery out of her faith in later seasons. As much as Christianity angers me 99% of the time, it was a huge part of Grace and I wish they'd kept it as a core part of her, but toned it down to bearable levels.

I hated the way Christians were depicted. Brenda Hampton's version of Christians is one devoid of judgement (which is not always a bad thing) and standards. I'm not saying have them follow the Bible to the letter but lets face it gay people who actively are gay and promiscuous people are judged in The Bible.

BH's viewpoint of Christianity is really just positive humanism.

There are Christians who believe in a war on Christianity and look for every opportunity to prove they are being persecuted for their beliefs. The showrunners belong to that crowd. Christians are very much a majority in the US and they run the country, refusing to separate church from state. Persecuted my ass.

In my personal opinion, they make it look like if you've had pre-marital sex or you're gay or you've smoked weed, etc., that you're not a Christian. I beg to differ. I'm a Christian and I have smoked weed, had pre-marital sex, I've even committed adultery. I still believe in God and He still believes in me. Just because you're not a "perfect" Christian doesn't mean you're not a Christian. I go to church and the church I go to is nondenominational and they love and accept you no matter what. Hell, a handful of people who go to my church and rejoice and put their hands up during the songs, have tattoos and I know how some Christians feel about tattoos. We shouldn't judge people, that's not our job.

Thank you! If all "Christians" behaved that way, they wouldn't be vilified.

Where in America do you live where people are looked down on for not being Christian? That narrow little world view is one of the many, many reasons educated and compassionate people look upon christians with disdain. I'm sorry you look down on me without even knowing me. Mostly I look at you with pity. It's hard living in a bubble of such hate and contempt for others.

Movies are IQ tests; the IMDB boards are how people broadcast their score.

Okay, I misread your reply at first and now I just have no idea what you're trying to say.
