So does the TiMER remove the concept of lust from this world? Questions.
Interesting movie. I couldn't help but wonder though, true love is one thing, but what about lust? We obviously know lust still exists in this world because since Oona and Mikey were not soul-mates, they evidently only lusted for each other. The movie ending tells us that both will soon discover what they had wasn't true love. So my question is, in this world, do people who have already zeroed out and found their soul-mates not cheat anymore? Can they not still lust for someone else while still loving their soul-mates? What if you're soul-mates but the person betrayed you? Was that your only soul-mate and do you have to stick it out with them because they are your "destiny"?
Also, I wish they would delve deeper into the fascinating quote Oona said to her mother. You can't talk about the TiMER being so perfect and loving a daughter who came from two people who aren't soul-mates in the same breath, it's a paradox. The movie ending is meant to show us that the TiMER is fact, it is always (well 98% of the time) correct. Therefore, is Oona even meant to be in the world? Since she came from two people who didn't truly love each other, does that make her not as good as others? If the answer is no, then the TiMER should not be taken as fact and the ending is flawed because Oona and Mickey could have decided that they are perfect for each other despite what the TiMER says.
