Was this covered? I wasn't totally clear on how this all worked but if some one gets a timer after you've already met them wouldn't both of yours just be at zero and you'd never have any way of finding one another?

So if you have a blank timer and suddenly it goes to zero and starts to beep you know your soulmate is someone you've met and they've just got one put in. Likewise if you get a timer implanted and it starts beeping straight away you know you've already met your soulmate.
I guess then you have to try and reconnect with as many people from your past as possible.
What she said was that Oona had to look at her boyfriend if she wanted it to zero out, which makes sense because it goes off when you look at The One (think it's supposed to be looking at their face/eyes and not their back).
So if you had already met your soulmate prior to getting a timer, I think the timer would set for whenever you next see that person. If that person's in your life, it will probably be a short timer (or zero out if you'll see that person the same day), but if it's someone from your past, it could be years in the future before you see that person again.
And if you're in a situation like Oona, and there with someone with a blank timer and yours zeroes but that person's doesn't, then you might be breaking up before leaving the office since The One isn't the one you're with.
