why must indies keep using video instead of film?

i realize that digital film cameras can be expensive and that even renting a red one can cost quite a few bucks. and i also realize that a digital workflow allows for more flexibility but still... it looks awful. and they did "bad taste" about 20 years ago on a budget that i'd bet wasn't a lot bigger than that of this movie. and i have to say i much prefer the visual quality of "bad taste", even though from a cinematographical point of view, this would probably be better.

I hate how digital looks, its way too fast looking. I wish they actually had a plug in that made digital look like TRUE film.

me too but it's just not possible because you can't heighten the contrast ratio in post and you can also get only so far with post motion blur. also, depth of field is a tough one to correct...
