Did we watch the same movie?

Masterpiece? A new icon of horror?
I’m starting to think I’ve seen another TOK then the "fans" who gave this flick ten stars out of ten. After reading a few reviews and postings about TOK I’ve build up a kind of interest for this movie so I watched it by myself to form my own opinion.
The Orphan Killer NEVER entertained me, on the contrary it was rather exhausting and boring being pushed from one death to another. Just a few buckets of blood and lot of violence never create a decent horror movie. If the director would have concentrated his efforts more on the plot than on the deaths, maybe he would be able to accomplish a big leap with TOK but in this form TOK is only a little step. Nothing to speak of.

I think many will disagree with your ideas.
The whole point of TOK was for it to be a slasher full of murder and blood.
Honestly with the soundtrack throughout I hardly feel this film was directed to the entire population of horror fans. IF it was surely it would have found its way onto the shelf in form of a DVD in many outlets.
This was a small production for fans into this exact type of horror and looking on Facebook with all the followings I think there are enough people that do like it to warrant good reviews.
IF this is not someones type of horror move on to the next film.

There are meant to be brilliant films out there that many cannot stand - and they come with the glory of having oscar winners in them!

Lastly I doubt whether you bought this dvd - you would have watched trailers etc beforehand if you hand and would have known the type of film to expect. Therefore the quality was probably fairly poor and the sound tinny --- not helping in making a decision when not a true fan.

Some folks will like it just because of all the gore. The lead actress was hot and the gore was plentiful, but the film was never scary or suspenseful; many of the characters appear just moments before getting killed and we know little if anything about them.

Each to their own.
IF this film was so bad then why in hell is it being shown AND winning awards across the globe at numerous horror festivals???
IF you dont like the film walk on to another that suites you.
TOK is going to be around for a long time - I personally cannot wait for TOK 2.

Easy. It isn't. Just another stupid lie from the morons responsible for this dreck.

And didn't you just say "(to)each their own"? Then why are you crying and pissing yourself over people not liking it in your very next sentence? Seek out a psychiatrist dude. The kind of duality you're showing here going back and forth between extremes is not healthy. It's a sign of several different psychological dissorders. Get some help man.

Hidyho!

This is clearly a case of people connected to the film maker or the production trying to build buzz for the movie. I'm sure a few posters here are legitimate, but the majority of the raves simply don't pass the common sense test. I'm all for low budget horror and B movies, but there was nothing special or original about this at all. I defend many, many movies that are heavily panned by "mainstream audiences", who simply oftem miss the point of many horror movies, yet this is certainly not the case here. I'd wager those of us who even knew the movie existed fall into the category of more hardcore horror fans. Just an all around piss poor production that I had to force myself to finish.

In summary... Thankskilling > The Orphan Killer. That's all that really needs to be said to cover this mess.

And what are these supposed awards it is out there winning? And second place in a community college film festival doesn't count.

Cold you agree that at least it was a valiant effort by a film maker? no reason to bash the movie. You dont like it big deal.

Jackshere1 - you miss the point. There are some worse movies out there (not many granted, but a few) however the reason this one in particular is getting such grief is because the film makers have undertaken an enormous campaign of shill reviewing on IMDB and elsewhere in order to generate hype for this lacklustre offering.

As such it is rightly being crucified. Not many people have fallen for it and we take offense to being treated like idiots and expected to fall for these over-the-top reviews.

I hope the producers of this garbage have learnt a lesson and won't be trying the same thing again with the next piece of crap they release.

I get your point,I do see that now.

Valiant effort ??? only if he was autistic or a mentally challenged person, then yes I would agree.

reply

Agreed. Gore is no substitute for suspense, character development and overall craftsmanship. If you just want to watch people suffering check out newsclips from Syria or the Sudan. If you want an actual horror film, turn anywhere but to this hacky poop.
