Why PARIS with love?

Paris is among the most famous cities in the world but there was nothing here that could use something of it, I think the scene taken in the Eiffel Tower was the biggest reference, the terrorists should put a bomb in the tower ( once again ) and lead to a shoot out or something, and I never seen a movie set on Paris were french was almost not spoken ( even if the characters are supposed to be all americans and the fiancee french ).
This could have been called "from some random european city with love"...

Maybe some people might have bought tickets thinking it was a Romcom or something.

I thought it was a Romcom...

reply

I definitely thought it was a RomCom until I realized it could be a reference to the Bond film "From Russia with Love", so I gave it a try and I'm glad I did.

It's entertaining enough if you don't have stratospheric expectations.

reply

I remember it was pretty entertaining even though I don't actually remember much of it since my memory is pretty crap.

reply

Because Luc Besson wrote the movie and he is French and frequently puts his country on display in his movies

reply

A riff on From Russia with love, maybe.

Its that man again!!

I agree the title doesn't fit the movie at all.

Paris tends to suggest a hint of sophistication when it's in a movie's title. Unfortunately this movie never progressed past a hint.

reply

It's an homage to the Bond movie From Russia with Love (1963) and a hint to the viewers familiar with the spy genre that this is a agent-flick

We crash into each other, just so we can feel something.

reply

the creators of the film said exactly this ^^^

but if people dont know about the Bond film it would go over there heads for sure.

Luc Besson uses Paris a lot of the time.

Luc Besson made this movie and he is French. Im thinking that had a lot to do with it. I found it refreshing that the Eiffel Tower was only visited in the film but had no integral part to its plot. Every other film has to have a shootout at the tower, a bomb is there, a tungsten rod is shot from orbit destroying paris with the Eiffel Tower falling down, a nanobot that devours metal is shot at the Eiffel Tower, etc, etc, etc, leave the tower out of it guys!!!!
