Why are wives in movies ALWAYS bitches?

They can never be understanding when the man is in a stressful situation - instead they always aggravate it by being critical and unpleasant. Can't there ever be a woman in a movie who understands her husband is in a difficult situation and offers a little sympathy, or even a little space to breathe?

Completely agree. I think the human male population should start reading between the lines and not give these spiteful, western hags the time of day by marrying them. No matter how good of a guy and a life they have they'll find something, anything to bitch about.

If they were nice and didn't do anything it wouldn't be a movie

Art imitating life?

reply

Yea, I was going to ask, how is that different than real life?

reply

Real life? In my house, it's my father who constantly nags, complains and scolds his entire family.

Maybe you guys are similar to everyone else and mistreat and disrespect your mothers, sisters, aunts, grandmothers, girlfriends, wives, friends and colleagues.

I'm wise enough to know that just because I grew up with a male figure like that, it doesn't mean all men are like that.

But wisdom isn't for everyone.

well yes I would expect more compassion from my wife if I had just killed a man depsite the fact that it was self defence. but i guess its cheap dramatization. its different in real life usually. at least herr in europe.e

Um, you do know that wives in movies are not real, right? They are actresses playing parts written for them. They have no say in who their character is.

And, you do know that the women actresses didn't write the parts for themselves, yes?

So, perhaps you should be asking why it is that male writers and male directors seem to just write the same bitchy, cliche, stereotypical bit parts for women, while creating main character hero-type roles for male actors. Perhaps you should be asking why it is that they aren't creating roles that make the women seem nice or supportive.

The fact that you are blaming the female actresses for their *beep* roles is bizarre.

reply

There isn't a single post in this thread that's blaming the actresses. I'm not sure who you are arguing with right now. lol
