Too many '70's era cars.

This movie takes place in 1989 so why are so many of the cars from the 1970's? Only the wife's Volvo looked to be from the 80's. I thought to movie was supposed to take place in the '70's until Don Johnson's character showed up.

Most people held onto their cars several years, or else bought them used.
