Wonderful film!!!

This is without any doubt one of the best Besson's movies. It's got the humour of The 5th Element, love for Paris form Angel-A, beautiful pictures and great music by Eric Serra. But before eveyrthing else the main actress Louise Bourgoin - who is absolutely fantastic in this. Although there are some minor flaws here and there, but all to all it is a great movie and we need sequel asap. Highly reccomend.

I agree. It was beautiful to watch and I loved the interweaving adventures. It had me lol in places too.

"Blanc-Sec"... comme le vin blanc-sec?

Est-il aussi bon que "Le fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain"?

Je vais le chercher ... le film, pas le vin!

You write this yet you haven't seen the film ..? (It's similar to a line that Adele uses in the film ;D)

I prefer it to Amelie but others probably wouldn't. It has gorgeous visuals, a feisty and witty heroine (seems to put some off ...), good action scenes and CGI, very funny, very French and quirky.

"Funny, French and quirky"... good description. I was surprised to see it was a Luc Besson production, which would explain the humor and the over-the-top action. One has to be good with sub-titles though, as Adèle speaks très rapidement.

I remember seeing "Superman" so many years ago. Another comic book adaptation but it took itself so seriously. That is certainly not an issue with this film. I enjoyed it.

Regarding understanding "blanc-sec" as in wine... what French I remember is from growing up in Canada, a bilingual country not renowned for its domestic wine production.

Canadians favor French and Italian wines, not specific necessarily to a grape - Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Muscat Blanc or Pinot Grigio say, but broken down by sugar content, with "1" being "dry" and "5" being "sweet".

So, in a liquor store or a restaurant, one asks for a "dry white" wine, whose bottle comes with a bilingual label announcing also in French, "blanc-sec".

So you've seen the film? I thought from your previous post that you hadn't. Oh well! Glad you liked it. So this or Amelie?

Your French is good. Mine is abysmal .

Do you live in French Canada? Where I am one goes by grapes.

I had not seen Adèle but I got a copy over the last few days. Both Adèle and Amélie were very good; I enjoyed them both. A preference? Well, my crotchety disposition struggles with stories I can't see as being possible, thus sci-fi and (generally) pterodactyl movies are not for me. However Adèle is so over-the-top that it's easy to become engrossed.

Louise Bourgoin was perfect for Adèle, a fast-talking, take-charge character... and tall!! In her hats she barely cleared the door to their apartment.

But Audrey Tautou is so utterly charmimg in all her movies that she makes comparisons tough. Even as a nefarious character in "He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not", she is so-o-o engaging.

Non, j'ai quitté le Canada pour demeurer avec Rhett et Scarlet. Here also, one chooses by the grape, mostly California vintages.

I prefer Adele although Amelie was chicken soup for my soul when I saw it 4 years ago shortly after a bereavement, so I retain a strong affection for the film.

Agree completely. I loved her comic delivery.

Audrey Tatou could not rescue The Da Vinci Code ...

So you live in Atlanta?

My preferred white grape is the sauvignon blanc, preferably from New Zealand, though I'm partial to gewurtztraminer. Red grapes I like are pinotage, merlot and grenache.
