Are Nastia and Shawn bitter rivals?

I saw this on the NY Daily News blind item, and thought it's funny if it's true. Can't quite imagine Shawn doing it, but I can totally see Nastia doing it.

Which two perky Olympian teammates are really bitter rivals? One spiked the other's protein shake with laxatives before a big competition, but her plan backfired when her nemesis not only powered through the competition but beat her so-called friend anyway.

According to every single interview/commentary/personal statement from both of them, as well as people talking with them, like Bob Costas, they're actually very good friends.

You think they'd be rooming together in Beijing for 2 weeks if they were bitter rivals?

It's also a freaking tabloid, by the way. And it's under a gossip section.

Ask yourself how in the hell the NY Daily News would even know this, and in such great detail, 1 day after the competition you're talking about, while the athletes are still in Beijing.

Answer: They wouldn't.

People seriously need to quit believing and giving credibility to things they read on the internet.

Especially from sources like tabloids for god's sake.

Why are they asking the reader to guess? What's the point of that if they know who it is and aren't making it up? It completely stinks like BS, lol.

The story itself makes no sense. Why would either of them even risk doing that and getting caught, and tainting the huge success they'd already had over there? It's just foolish to give any credence to stories like this that completely defy logic and lack any credibility.

Gosh im saying the same thing about these people thinking the chinese gymnasts are underaged because on some chinese website based in lizhou

It's not just that, it's that it's been in several reports, it's been on official government documents, it's been in numerous cometition lists, and it's blatantly obvious to the naked eye.

They're roomates in Beijing.. I don't think that would happen if they were rivals... people love to stir the pot..

They're world-class competitors, so naturally each wants to beat the other, but they have a very solid, close personal relationship. The latest edition (Aug. 25) of Sports Illustrated has a good article on their friendship. Check it out.
