Costas is great at what he does which is why he has done every Olympics since 1996.

If you want annoying, try watching the gymnastics commentators.
well said. they always talk about how those chinese babies are so great, even when you can see them make a few mistakes, and yet have nothing positive to say when gymnasts from other countries do well, sometimes even better.

I'm actually surprised no one here agrees! haha I don't really mind one way or the other. Different strokes for different folks. There are a few ESPN anchors who make me want to cut my ears off that everyone seems to love, too, while I seem to enjoy a lot of the sportscasters that people hate. Mostly I just dislike all of them and take every chance to turn off the volume and watch what's going on instead.
Why don't I like Bob? No one I've been watching with does, either, and we all agree on why. First of all, he seems very self-important and arrogant. Secondly, he talks to down to people sometimes when he interviews them. And thirdly, he seems a bit squirrelly. Honestly, these are all just personal perceptions that people I've talked to in real life agree with, but he apparently doesn't seem fake to anyone in the virtual world. I'm glad you guys haven't been jerks regarding my outlandish statement, though. It's a first for the imdb world!
I just wish Dan Patrick did every sports broadcast ever. It would be hard to cover things in the water cube and the bird's nest simultaneously, but if anyone could do it, it's him. He's my favorite.

I've respected Bob Costas in the past, but after the banal babbling from him and Matt Lauer during the opening ceremony I can only see him them both as complete imbeciles now.
His commentary reminded me of Fred Willard from Best In Show.
i agree. i had complete respect for Bob Costas during his coverage of the Athens and Torino olympics, but his coverage of the opening ceremony kinda got on my nerves.
and btw- that chinese gymnast fell on her knees on the vault and she got a better score than Alicia Sacramone whose only flaw was taking a step on the landing? that's just NOT fair.
