What do you prefer--Winter or Summer Games?

So they were saying that this was the most watched Summer Games that have not been hosted by the US since they started televising it. They also went on to mention, however, that the Winter Games usually rate higher.

I know a lot of people (myself included) that prefer the Winter Games (for me I watch the Summer Games for Gymnastics, swimming and diving. That's about it. But with the winter games I find myself watching almost everything, even stuff I don't usually care about like luge!).

So I thought I'd ask--do you prefer the Winter or Summer Games?

I like the summer games only for the track events but thats about it.
The winter games I think are better cuz of the hockey, skiing etc so I prefer the winter olympics overall.

I prefer the Summer Games. I like the Volley Ball Games, and the Field Events.

Hmm, there's things I like from each. I really love the gymnastics though and get really invested in that, as well as the swimming. I will watch the diving but don't gain as much interest from it. I really only watched beach volleyball to see the awesomeness that is Misty-May and Kerri. If they weren't playing I probably wouldn't be as interested in that; they are just so good at it that I get drawn in, especially when they make these amazing saves. I like a lot of the winter stuff too though and find less things boring, like the track, that kinda bores me (as does water polo).

Track is the best. Did you see Bolt and the Jamaican team this year? Were you not intrigued or entertained by their dominance? What about the U.S sweep, or the Romanian marathon runner?

Anyways, where's proof that more people watched the Winter Games than the Summer Games, OP?

I love both the Summer and Winter Olympics. In Winter Olympics I like watching Figure Skating, Speedskating, Skiing events,Hockey and Snowboarding. In the Summer Olympics I watch Gymnastics, Swimming, Track and Field, Diving, Marathon, Boxing, and Beach, Basketball and Indoor Volleyball.

I love the Summer Olympics! I watch for the swimming, gymnastics, diving, synchronized swimming....pretty much anything that is on I love. The only thing that I watch from the winter Olympics is the ice skating, everything else bores me very much...

Winter, I find the sports more exciting and they seem to require a lot more skill since they have to perform on dangerous mediums. Ice Skating and Snowboarding, alone, beats the entire Summer Olympics, IMO

No one said Summer sports are not dangerous, I said they're generally less dangerous due to the mediums. With Summer sports you're dealing with your own body and solid mediums, aside from the water sports, while with Winter sports you have to deal with ice and snow while using a device that is not 'stable' (skis, snowboards, skates, etc) while also maintaining fast speeds.
The only real dangerous sports in the Summer Games is BMX, maybe poll vault and gymnastics but at least they have mats
