The Hire Car.

When Katz phones Bryson at the start of the film, he says he walks everywhere since he lost his (driving) license due to being drunk in charge of a vehicle.

Yet, later, he is apparently able to discuss a hire car agreement with the dealer - who is ready to hand over the keys to a large and valuable vehicle once a form is signed.

Surely, not even in the USA (land of the brave and home of free enterprise), would a car hire firm fail to inspect a customer's license before trying to close a deal.
