It helps when you are from Oklahoma.

I can see how out of staters don't see the apeal of this movie. There are times that it totally nails Oklahoma like Spinal Tap nailed the 80s rockers. And it has Toby Keith and Rodney Carrington, two of your favorite people in the lead roles, with the Nuge and Willie, and Cleatus T. Judd who we think the world of here on Planet Okie.

I watched this movie like a play or a student film that all my friends are in that have inside jokes but I see the problems in the plot and why it gets mixed reviews.

As someone who has lived in the Northeast their entire lives and never plans on visiting Oklahoma I found the movie off-putting.

Maybe...Maybe Not...Maybe F@ck Yourself

I'm from the northeast and yesterday paid $20 for this DVD. I didn't expect it to be a top favorite of mine like "High Noon", "Braveheart", "Casablanca", or other great films... So I didn't have to worry about getting disappointed.

I'm a big Toby Keith fan, and am very happy with my purchase. I won't be watching it again any time soon, but I will probably watch the special features tomorrow.

:)

Exactly--so many inside jokes no one else gets--lol It had stupid parts but all comedies do--this was just funny, entertaining romp and I liked it and will watch it again to see the really funny parts.

How does it help if you're from Oklahoma? The movie was obviously shot in New Mexico, not Oklahoma, which mostly people from Oklahoma are likely to notice.

Thanks for helping the Oklahoma economy and film industry, Toby.

That's sarcastic, in case you were wondering.

I dont agree you having to be from Oaklahoma to get this movie. I'm originally a Yankee but moved to the South (NC) 5 years ago and married a southern country man.

I get everything in this movie just fine and I think it's a funny movie. Yes it may not be the best directed and produced movie of all time but I love Toby Keith, Rodney and Ted Nugent.

DD931- Yes Toby shot the movie in NM instead of OK for the tax breaks and everything. But if you don't have a 40 million dollar budget and such as most Hollywood movies nowadays do, then you have to save money some how. You've got to look at the big picture. Plus I'm sure there were several people who had a say or influence in where the movie was shot.

reply

I know all about the big picture. I've also worked on movies shot in Oklahoma with a budget of less than a million, so your whole "you have to save money some how" argument is total nonsense.

So Toby Keith has no influence on the vanity-project movies that he headlines? Really? You're going to stay with that line?

Knock yourself out.

reply

I disagree. I'm from Texas and I'll put it this way: I didn't expect much and thus was not dissapointed. But I enjoyed the movie.

And concerning it being filmed in New Mexico vs. Oklahoma...I too was a little put off when I saw that. I remember reading something about NM being a good place to film because of tax breaks for film makers, or something like that.

But still, like DD-931 said, it seems like Toby Keith would've WANTED the movie to be filmed in OK, tax breaks or no.

I stick my neck out for nobody- Rick Blaine, Casablanca
